aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Hi all, my yahoo league drafted today. Standard scoring, start 2 RB's, 3 WR's, no flex, and it's a 10 team league. Not sure how I feel about my team, I got the 1st pick and here's who I've got: QB K Warner, D Carr RB S Alexander, R Brown, J Jones, K Jones WR P Burress, R Williams, D Mason, D Stallworth TE H Miller, K Winslow K J Reed DEF Miami, Atlanta Anyways, there are still some quality options left on waivers, I was wondering if I should stick with what I've got or make some changes. Here's what's available: QB B Leftwich, J Kitna, A Brooks, S McNair RB R Dayne, C Benson, D Williams, C Brown, M Barber, S Gado WR A Bryant, D Givens, A Toomer, E Wilford TE V Davis, Z Hilton There are some good RB's left, although I don't really need any. With that said, you can never have enough and I was thinking I could probably easily drop Carr and the Atlanta DEF and pick up a couple people, such as Benson and maybe Dayne. Whaddaya think? I hear Dayne is the #1 back right now in Denver (ahead of T Bell). If that's true, he could be a beast (could be a beast even if splitting carries like Bell and Anderson last year). Then there's Benson who may or may not be starting. Could be big too if so. Not sure what Brown's prognosis is right now, I hear he's not happy. Barber would be a handcuff to J Jones, but I'd probably rather just have another solid option than just a handcuff. Since we start 3 WR's, perhaps I should add another WR like Bryant or Wilford? I like V Davis too, but I think I'll just keep my eye on both of these available TE's at the beginning of the season to see if they're doing good and I might then drop one of my other guys for them. Should I drop Carr for Leftwich or Kitna or Brooks? Any ideas? Will respond, thanks!
mobb_deep 917 Posted August 6, 2006 Besides your QB's I like your team. The Yahoo leagues are always really easy to grab RB's in but they tend to take QB's earlier for some reason. I can see why you drafted getting the value you did but as a result you're really struggling at QB. I'd definitely drop Carr for either Brooks or Leftwich. You really don't need 2 TE's or DEF's either so you might as well drop one or the other for Benson. I doubt T. Jones will finish the season in Chicago and Benson if healthy will be the man. Might as well scoop him up so you can sell high in a few weeks to one of the teams who took QB's and WR's in 4 of the first 5 rounds (like a few yahoo teams always do!) enjoi525 0 Posted August 6, 2006 in a 10 player league you'll pry only need 1 def. If one of them is sucks this you can always go to FA. I drafted the bills last year and found the colts in FA. you just never know. I would pry drop carr and replace him with one of those other qbs probably brooks. aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 6, 2006 What if I drop Carr, Atlanta, and Winslow, and add Brooks, Benson and Dayne?? Would anybody take DeAngelo Williams over either of those 2 RB's??
nj_swede 0 Posted August 6, 2006 I think that you don't need any running backs, with SA and Ronnie Brown being a great 1-2 combo. If i were you, I would probably drop Carr and get either Brooks or McNair. I would also drop a TE or D and pick up some sleeper WR.
lguero1 4 Posted August 6, 2006 gobble up the RBs. drop the rest. get brooks please. 5th easisest pass defenses to play against and he's got weapons all around him. no, don't take d. williams over those other RBs.
aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Yea, I'm still thinking of dropping Carr, Atlanta, and Winslow and adding Brooks and Dayne and maybe Benson. NOt sure about Benson now with the new injury and lack of support from his teammates. I'm also feeling good about Winslow this year, think he might be excellent. Also drooling over the idea of adding Vernon Davis at TE, but I think I can hold off and see how he starts off the season without too much fear of other people adding him. I could add Brooks, Dayne and a WR, like Bryant or Wilford. What about Mark Clayton? Thanks, will respond to all.
Thre3Deep 0 Posted August 6, 2006 I like Leftwich over Brooks..if he stays healthy and goes back to his form be4 the injury, Brooks is so inconsistent, has good playmakers around him, but cna he make the plays?
capmeo 0 Posted August 6, 2006 I would definetely drop Carr and add Brooks. I would also pickup Benson, I feel he will be the starter in short time in Chigaco, particulary with their pass offense, this is going to be run heavy team and can help you out down the stretch. gobrownies6 0 Posted August 6, 2006 With only 10 teams in the league, there has to be one team that has 2 really good QBs. I'd try and trade a combo of one of your RBs (other than SA of course) and a TE for a QB. I'm not a fan of carrying 2 TEs.
prostollo 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Drop carr TE & D Pick up brooks, dayne benson
aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Thanks, seems like a bit of consensus on that, with a few exceptions.
JOHN 316 7 Posted August 7, 2006 I agree with the majority of the comments. With a 10 team league, RB's are not in as high a demand, but I'd try to grab a couple of starting RB's anyways....you could always package 1 of them with another player for upgrades later. You need another QB to replace Carr (McNair or Brooks). Drop or trade a TE to make some roster room or upgrades. If you plan on keeping JJ, you better grab Barber...I'm in the same position now and getting barber is becoming a difficult task
Erb047 0 Posted August 7, 2006 One thing I'll add - Keep Atlanta over Miami... Atlanta has made some improvements on defense this year and their DLine and Secondary should be sick... Miami is very unproven. They have a great coaching staff, but theyre DLine and Secondarys will be very suspect this year. Atlanta is the safe choice... RogueDeadguy 0 Posted August 7, 2006 I say drop the xtra D and pick up one of the RBs I'd drop Miami's D and a TE of your choosing for Benson and D.Williams. One of those could become excellent trade bait to upgrade the QB if Warner/Carr don't pan out.
aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Do you think I should go for D Williams instead of Dayne? I originally thought Dayne because I hear he's #1 on the depth charts right now in Denver, but I just read a thread saying this new guy Mike Bell was looking great and that Dayne might only end up 3rd (like last year). IF that's the case, then he loses his appeal. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
RogueDeadguy 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Do you think I should go for D Williams instead of Dayne? In my opinion, if you're picking up Dayne, you're hoping for him to clean up the first few weeks so you can dump him off. I just don't see that happening with Dayne even at #1 (currently). Williams has much greater long-term potential, but you may have to wait a few games for DeShaun to get injured
RogueDeadguy 0 Posted August 7, 2006 IF that's the case, then he loses his appeal That is, in fact, the case. Mike Bell is now the starter: http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_4146848

Mike Bell is now the starter: http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_4146848 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That is, in fact, the case for right now, well before the actual season starts. Adrian Peterson is probably the starter right now for the Bears, but I'm guessing he won't be on opening day.

RogueDeadguy 0 Posted August 7, 2006 You don't need to shut up , just simmer down You should've seen that post before I editted it. I think I called Dayne a chump shutting up starting.... now.
aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 7, 2006 I'm starting to think that maybe Dayne is a chump Seriously, this whole Denver RB situation is turning into one of the yearly fantasy headaches I go through each week trying to decide if "my guy" will get the ball or not. Perhaps I best avoid it altogether and add DeAngelo Williams, feeling assured that at some point, DeShaun Foster will go down and I'll have an interesting little project on my hands who may prove valuable down the stretch. It's not like I need a week 1 starter (already have S Alexander, R Brown, J Jones, K Jones). What would be nice is some trade bait.
