Who is your facorite college football team and how do you think they will do this year?

Mine would have to be Florida State

I think they turn things around this year. No, its not because im a HUGE seminole fan, but things are different this year.

This will be their 2nd year running the zone blocking scheme, Drew Weatherford is a sophomore now and more experienced. He showed a lot of progrss in spring. The atmosphere is different this year. There is a lot of team chemistry, something we lacked in years past. If you look at last years running game & offensive line and compare it to this years, its like night and day.

Although we lost 4 players to the draft, were already reloaded at those positions. You cant replace Cromartie & Wimbley, but we got players who are still very good at those postions. Our corners Tony Carter & JR Bryant are more experienced, have bulked up, and played really well in Spring. Boston & Burston our 2 ends are good. Not Wimbley good though. That might be our weakest link on D. At LB, were stacked with Buster Davis in the middle. At WLB, we got Lawrence Timmons, who is gonna be a BEAST this year. Hes just sick. He will be better than Ernie. At SLB we got Hayes, Nicholson, Gallon, Thaxton. Who were all highly rated LBs coming out of HS. Hayes was #1 LB in FL. We got safety Myron Rolle, the #1 prospect in the nation at SS. Hes really played well and adjusted to the college level pretty fast. Hes a smart kid and will be a major contributor at SS. We also got another freshman safety...Anthony Leon, who is the cousin of Sean Taylor. The dude is HUGE. He is 6'4 220. At FS, we got Roger Williams who turned it on the last 2 games of the 05 season. He forced a T.O. in each game. He can lay the wood.

Im pretty excited about the college football season. Just thought i'd get some discussion going on in here.

Longhorns all the way baby!! :first: Born and raised in the GREAT STATE. :first: With Vince gone on to greener pastures and the land of big bucks, we won't be as strong this year but will still contend for the title I think. With Jamaal Charles and Selvin Young running the ball, we'll have one of the best running games in the country. When the QBBC does throw the ball, Limas Sweed and our newest secret weapon, Jermichael Finley will be there to catch it. Finley is a RS freshman TE who runs like a WR. He will be an awesome weapon. I'm sure the defense will struggle without Huff and Griffin, but we'll be fine. Hook 'Em Horns!

The main guys they lost were Huff and Griffin, and yea I think they'll be ok. They weren't exactly a defensive powerhouse anyway.

Maryland Terrapins

Likely to be another down year for my Terps, though all those investments in the enourmous lineman are going to finally pay off. They spent the last four years courting kids that were 6'7" and 300lbs, and now have a massive Oline.

The QB position is a mess, the WR's are young and they lost a monster in Vernon Davis to the draft.

Some decent RB's, but nothing inspiring. What is inspiring is that it appears as though the recruits are recognizing the Maryland investment in lineman. They just got a written from a top 5 WR out of NYC, a beast with 4.4 speed at 6'6" and 220. Plus they are getting looks from some top RB's now as well.

Like I said, another 6-5 campaign, but next year we see some of the work paying off IMHO

UCLA Bruins. The team was very fortunate last year winning several times when they should have lost. Gone are Drew Olson, Marcedes Lewis, Maurice Drew, Spencer Havner, Justin London and Jarrad Page. There isn't much returning to replace these guys, and I doubt Dorrell has another charmed season, so things are bleak. There will be a couple players to watch though. Chris Markey is a nice RB who was in committee with Drew. He's a strong power back, still young and growing. But hopefully, the real story is QB Ben Olson. If my eyes didn't deceive me, he is the closest thing to Elway I have ever seen. He was the top rated QB in the country out of HS, but he did his mormon service and lost a couple years. He's been at UCLA waiting in the wings for two years and most observers thought he was better than any QB they had last year. I won't be surprised if he has a nice season and heads to the NFL after one year of starting. He is a little older and the clock is ticking. If he shines, and he should, he will be the guy that nobody ever heard of who comes from nowhere to go early in the draft. He does look like a stud to me.

Umm...well...I live in Rochester, NY and I tend to be provincial so I'm an Orangeman fan...oops let me rephrase that to reflect the recent change...I am a fan of the Orange. Not exactly a prime time to be following that program. Of course the other team to follow here is UV Buffalo...they went 1-10 last year (beat Kent St 10-6, outscored 321-100 in other 10).

But hey, who needs the NCAA when I've got the Bills to follow?!!! :first:

Wisconsin was a great contender in football when we were going to the rosebowl and winning on a regular basis. etc. The big ten is made up of talented teams. Basketball has been better than it was. We did make the final 4 not too long ago. But right now with Alveraz out and losing all the good players - We won't do much this year in football and basketball.....who knows Bo Ryans teams amaze me at times. I'll have to check out that other board.

Glad I'm not the only one. Was born in Silver Spring. But since both my dad & bro went to Cal, it's the Bears for me usually.
