rickap7 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Is Tatum Bell not the starting running back in Denver? Rushing ATT YDS TD LG T. Bell 5 26 0 15 M. Bell 7 20 0 8 T. Devoe 2 10 0 5 R. Dayne 4 9 0 4 J. Rye & Leaf 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Give it time....that fumble wont help M. Bell's cause.
shake_a_leg 0 Posted August 12, 2006 I'm not much of a betting man....well I am, but....I'll bet that Tatum Bell ends up the starter by the start of the regular season. I seem to remember Shanahan doing something similar to this in the past to try to spark a guy to step up to the challenge. If Tatum can do that, the job is his. If not, expect him to be starting somewhere else.
brentleim 0 Posted August 12, 2006 and I am sure that Tatum was playing against the 2nd team defense and Mike was playing against the 1st... Sure the fumble didnt help but there is plenty of preseason left...

Shanahan is a asssssssssssssssssssssss. 15 of Scrotum's yds were on a draw play w/ 18 sec. left on the clock before half, and the Lions were in Nickel coverage... so as someone watching the game put it, which RB it was in there was irrelevant, the result would have been the same... other than that, his avg was a craptacular 2.75 ypc... TIKI-BARBERS-BARBER 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Like I said guys none of the 3 are sleepers now which makes them all worthless since it is Denver we are talking about.

rickap7 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Yes they are all Denver backs but the problem is that one of them will get the ball enough to get 1000 yds and score points for your fantasy team. Which one is it going to be is the issue. T.Bell should be the one soft or not he has shown that he can handle the hits and play with pain just give him the damn ball as see what happens. Peens 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Im not sure what the big deal is. Its apparent that Tatum will have his role regardless of who the starter is. Doesnt matter if its Dayne or Mike Bell I still see Tatum getting 10-12 carries a game. The REAL battle IMO is between Dayne and Mike for the "MA" role. mtammen 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Seriously, T. Bell's problems in pass blocking and recieving out of the backfield have been well documented. This is why he isn't starting.
Gepetto 989 Posted August 12, 2006 I hope all 3 craptacular Denver runningbacks get taken by the 6th round so better players fall to me in my draft. No one will know the starter for each and every game until the game has already started, just like last year. Oh...and the Broncos suck and so does Shanny! football_scooter 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Because he's "Tinker Bell" if he had a man card, he might be the starter.
Savage Beast 1 Posted August 12, 2006 Mike Bell did his damage against the 1st stringers in the 1st quarter. Tinker Bell did his damage against the 3rd and 4th stringers in the 2nd half, and most of those guys will be cut in the next few weeks. Next question? Problem is....Tinker, Tatum...whatever you call him, does the same damage against first stringers. Which he has already done in regular season. Mike has not. Not with consistancy. We have no more idea of what Tatum can do in a full time RB role in Denver then we do with Mike. Neither guy has been a full time starter in the NFL. Savage Beast 1 Posted August 12, 2006 Fair enough. But I can see why ppl would want to see what Tatum could do if given the chance to start. I think Tatum is more of a 3rd down specialist like Kevin Faulk is in New England. Faulk has shown awesome flashes of speed and running ability, but has never shown the coaches in New England that he can be the full time RB. It looks like Tatum is viewed the same way by the Denver coaching staff, since they evaluate him daily and all.
texasmouth 1 Posted August 12, 2006 No one ever doubts Tater Tot's talent, it is his durability that is always in question. The guy is a cream puff.
yodaday 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Guys, guys.... Shanahan is THE BEST at putting together a top notch running game (real NFL talk here). I strongly believe Tatum is given every chance to be the starter. But maybe, just maybe..., he didn't p-e-r-f-o-r-m well during training camp. If he did busts his ass and outperforms M. Bell, then I am sure Shanny would have committed with T. Bell as the starter. Like this post has been pointing out, it's real early in the pre-season and that fumble by M. Bell would help Tater. For my sake and since I own Tater, I am hoping M. Bell would fumble more often
