BringBackBernie 0 Posted August 22, 2006 San Diego took Ryan Leaf #2 overall a few years back. It's hard to top that fantasy or not. Tim Couch.

Pinto 0 Posted August 22, 2006 It's not as bad as people's here, but last year we had a new rookie (also expansion) team join our league and didn't do any preparation (by not looking at a website or buy a magazine). For our expansions, they get to pick from the leftovers. (Our keeper rules is that you lose your draft pick two rounds earlier from the previous year, so there were good players still available.) In the expansion draft, he selected Joe Horn for a 2nd round, Denver Broncos (he was a homer) for a 6th round, and the worst pick of our league's history, Jeff Garcia (backup QB for Det last year) for a 7th round pick. In the draft, he selected Westbrook for his 1st, Dallas Clark for his 3rd, Mushin Muhammad for his 4th, Bettis for his 5th, and LJ for his 8th, which was his first good pick of the day. The funny thing about Westbrook was that BEFORE the expansion draft, we were grilling our league's Eagles homer why he didn't keep Westbrook for a 4th round, which he was probably valued as a 3rd round last year. The new guy heard us talking about Westbrook, didn't select him in the expansion draft for a 4th round, then selected him for his #1 pick. We've told him to buy a mag this year. The sad thing is that he beat me and finished better than me since he rode LJ in the latter part and a portion of my team got nailed with a lot of injuries. dalie 2 Posted August 22, 2006 My wife.......Somewhere in the middle of the FIRST round, Brad Johnson the year after he won the Super Bowl. (it was her first ever draft, she liked her homers) I still take my chances of sleeping on the couch and laugh at draft time.
The Moose 0 Posted August 22, 2006 The year after Priest set the record for rushing TDs, my friend asked me "If I get the #1 pick, who should I take?" and I said "I'll give you a hint: he's on the Chiefs." So that night, he looked on Madden to see which Chiefs players were rated highly. The next day during the draft, he tried to take Willie Roaf

LMc44 0 Posted August 22, 2006 Have been in the same league for 10 years with the same cast. We use a 1 TE and 2/3 WR, RB format in the starting lineup. In '98 a guy (who still plays) drafted #12 and #13. With those picks he took Shannon Sharpe and Cam Cleeland. I had the 7th pick in the draft Bobby Ross first season in Det. Feeling that he'd get Barry the ball more than Fontes did I had BS tabbed as my #1 pick overall. Well, he slipped to #6 and the guy in front of me picked Jeff Blake. It didn't take me 2 sec to spit out the name Barry Sanders. 2,000 and another championship. 5 more since then.

shasha 0 Posted August 22, 2006 Instead of doing the whole 'some guy' thing I'll give you 2 of my most questionable picks. You have to remember that this is a $100 salary capped auction league so place taken means nothing compared to price. Last season I came back into the league after taking a year off and they had switched to keeper so I had a pool of players that I could pick from and each player one would be their previous salary +$7. I had the first pick and took Tatum Bell for a total of $8. So in essence he was our #1 overall pick. I ended up winning based on the strength of my later picks and waiver wire pickups, but looking back on it, that could have killed me. To make matters worse I just put him on the RFA list at $8 and someone has bid him up to $10 with a few days left. I am thinking about letting someone else deal with that Denver nightmare. Not quite so bad, but the year that Ricky Watters retired I drafted him with my last pick thinking that he would get signed. I think that was the year that Edge got hurt too and I really thought that he would end up out there. Didn't lose too much in way of value, but I did end up second place and perhaps someone else could have put me over the edge.
The Shepherd 10 Posted August 22, 2006 People who do this would not be invited back the next year. The guy actually does pretty well when he's not Budweiser brain dead. He's better than Soloist and the ESPN idiots.
NPNG 4 Posted August 22, 2006 Two worst picks. The first year we did fantasy football (1994), one owner took Ronnie Harmon with the 5th pick. (He was an Iowa homer). Three years ago, after we changed to an auction with a $100 cap, an owner brought out the Bucs Def. for $15. Needless to say he got them.
dominus florenzus 0 Posted August 24, 2006 Same thing here my friend.... except the guy in my draft that year took Vick in the first round and Price in the 2nd..... at least your guy probably got a good RB in the first.... Oh yeah my boy finished dead last # 12 of 12 teams. Only difference is he said .... Vick finally has his big threat Wr.... he'll be on the recieving end of bomb after bomb all season long 2 seasons ago we all made fun of my friend for picking Westbrook in the first round, pick #4.... then Westbrook had an amazing year and the kid's team was awesome. Lucky bastard
OuttaLuck 0 Posted August 24, 2006 I think I have the winner here. One owner (with an early pick in the first round) chose the BACK-UP Qb in Seattle ( I think it was Glenn Foley). Another year, again in the first round, Sean Bennett (RB for the Giants, who I think accumulated at least 23 yards in 14 carries during his career.) Tough to top THOSE choices, eh?? Wait--I just saw the choice of Willie Roaf-I'll settle for second place in connection with my report of this person's picks.

sgannon7 0 Posted August 25, 2006 my buddy is really dumb and took Eddie George as the fourth overall pick two seasons ago, he wasnt signed by any team at that point. This year the same kid picked Philip Rivers in the 3rd round and Shayne Graham in the 11th round. Not only did he take any kicker , it wasnt even the best kicker. It's dead money as far as im concerned..that is why we keep inviting him every year!! I took Michael Vick in the 7th round this year..so maybe im I have the worst pick ever! escobante 0 Posted August 25, 2006 congrats everyone, you are all smarter than some guys who don't pay much attention to football or fantasy football. like a bunch of math nerds talking about how stupid the guy is who doesn't know how to divide a polynomial by the square of a prime number. action000 0 Posted August 25, 2006 13 year league. One year we had a guy draft LeShon Johnson in the 2nd round. I tried to help him by saying "you mean Keyshawn Johnson". Nope he meant LeShon. Later in the draft he took Anthony Dorsett. We don't play IDP, only team DE. /shrug We had a guy last season who picked Joey Porter as his first WR. I'd like to see Joey Porter play WR. dogsoldier 0 Posted August 25, 2006 In 2000, a guy in our league took Mike Alstott with the 1st pick of the 2nd round. Its been a running joke ever since.
