Yes - Works great. Love it.

Think about what you want your P&L to look like in terms of number/kind of expenses categories BEFORE you start creating them.

Can I punch in the numbers and then figure out what I would like them to be? We need to see where our money is going, and I thought that I could better get a handle on it if the totals were right in front of me, etc...

Yes - You can compare to a budget, if that's what you are asking.

I don't have a budget, that's what I am needing to figure out. I thought Quicken kinda helped to determine where money is going and all of that...???

The calendar feature is pretty slick. Along with your monthly bills, you can enter things that only happen once or twice a year like property tax payments and income tax returns and see how it affects your bottom line months or years in advance.

It's also helpful in doing "what if" scenarios. You can easily see how a pay raise or an increased car payment will work out.

I bought Quicken Basic. It's not working like I thought it would. Will def,. take some time to set it all up and get it going.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. It helps!!!

I don't have a budget either, and use itemized category and cash flow reports to determine where we are spending our money. It takes a little time to get it working like you want it to, and avoid double counting some things. For example, we pay our credit cards from our checking acount, and then also download our credit card statements. Those purchases on the cc are also a debit on our checking acct and counted twice.

The fewer the Income/Expense items the better.

You can always add.

Think about what you want to know about your finances.

I want to know EXACTLY where ALL of our money is going.

I'm talking about creating 50 expenses categories insteads of 500.
