This is one no one can help you with. The team wants Jones. Management wants Benson. Both have been hurt all preseason. I drafted Jones in the 6th, and missed out on Benson in the 9th. It is a toss up right now.

If he wants the better player out there it will be CB.
hephner 0 Posted August 30, 2006 Right now, it's definitely Jones, in part because Benson is still hurt (shoulder), and most likely won't be ready to step into the starting role by week 1 anyway. I think with the injury, coupled with some off the field antics (like leaving the field early during one preseason game) has opened the door for Jones to retake the starting job. I think Jones will see the bulk of the carries to start with, but they'll be working Benson in quite a bit as well, especially after the first one or two games. Then they may end up splitting carries and whoever has the hot hand at the time will end up with more carries on a game by game basis.
Busted by the Feds 9 Posted August 30, 2006 See now you're in the boat I was last year. I know what you're going through. TJones was my flex back and someone else had Benson, and every week you're going to go through these questions like I did. What made it worse was the Benson owner wouldn't make a trade either way (trading Benson to me or me trading TJones to him, just so I can get rid of that situation). I made it a point this year to stay away from those two guys. Pray that Benson gets traded to a RB-needy team and TJones becomes the clear # 1 in Chi-town. I don't know who is the better player right now. CB has the potential to be much better than TJ, but he hasn't shown anything yet. Right now I think they are equal until one or the other steps up (and we can get away from all of the RB drama bull%$#@)
tony hardware 0 Posted August 30, 2006 Why would the Bears trade their #1 pick from last year, #4 overall? Doesn't make sense. He hasn't had a chance to play really. I feel like we've beaten this issue to death. Benson has barely participated in preseason. I think it's pretty clear. The real question is, who's starting in Seattle? Could someone please give me some insight?
PackYourNut 47 Posted August 30, 2006 The only thing for sure is whoever starts will go off against GB in the opener...

Neither of these guys are going anywhere, but if the Bears were even entertaining trade offers, Jones would be the only back to even enter into the conversation. But again, all that trade speculation we've heard in the preseason, like Jones for Lelie, etc., was just that: pure speculation. The Bears never had it in their plans to trade Jones. I think last year was a great indication that they'll definitely need both backs to have strong years to be successful. Which one will have the better year still remains the mystery though. Busted by the Feds 9 Posted August 30, 2006 Oh, that's easy. In Seattle, Ichiro is the clear starter.
kutulu 1,676 Posted August 30, 2006 2005: TJ 4.3 avg. 9TD 5 100 yard games Benson 4.1 avg. 0TD 0 100 yard games How exactly is Benson better...he might be, but how can you say he def. is at this point. He hasn't done sheet, except recover quick from a nasty looking leg bend.
Verbal Kent 0 Posted August 30, 2006 TJ definately starter at beginning of year and if he stays healthy and produces will remain. Plug him in for 15-20 carries a game if he doesn't get hurt. If he gets hurt it's Benson all day, all the time.

LOL - at this point, I'd definitely rather have Jones running for me than Bensen. First, we haven't seen much of Bensen and he has been injured to often to be relied upon. Jones put up 1300+ last year and will most likely do the same. If you think you know enough to say that Bensen is better, I'm waiting for the backup. I'm a Bears fan, I own both, and watch every game. At this moment in time, I'm certainly hoping the Bears start both Jones and Griese because it's not a rebuilding year - they're the proven performers and we need to get wins! unclemercy 53 Posted August 30, 2006 in a three keeper league i grabbed jones first round after i'd decided, without question, rb first and second round.... to which the crowd of clowns responded, "whom?". so... why? cause benson's fragile and locker room cancer and i can't see him living up to expectations even if they're 750 and 5. still... both are only 3's to me... just gut unclemercy
