T.O. tried to work with Bledsoe, but Bledsoe just wouldn't

T.O. happy about Cowboys QB change

IRVING, Texas - While Jerry Jones is disappointed the Dallas Cowboys are going to their backup quarterback, he won't get any complaints from Terrell Owens.

T.O. said Thursday he already feels better chemistry with Tony Romo than he ever did with deposed starter Drew Bledsoe. Owens even had an example, pointing out his 8-yard touchdown catch against New York Giants on Monday night.

``I looked across the formation and he looked at me and he knew what was going on,'' Owens said. ``It's just two players making a play.''

Did he and Bledsoe ever develop that bond?

``I honestly tried to do that time and time again,'' he said. ``But for whatever reason it didn't happen.''

.........

The QB switch has forced Jones to lower his expectations for this season. He's no longer convinced this team could be ``special,'' the code word he and Parcells used this summer instead of saying they expected a deep playoff run.

``I have to be a realist,'' Jones said. ``I hadn't thought or hoped that we'd be sitting here after the sixth game making these adjustments. ... I did not want to this year go to an inexperienced quarterback. I wanted to have the benefit of Drew Bledsoe. It hasn't worked out as of today. It just hasn't worked out. That to me is a step back.''

......

Parcells wasn't the only one on the Cowboys sideline disgusted by that play. Teammates were frustrated by the same old, same old, too.

It hadn't gotten to the point that players were lobbying for a change, but linebacker Bradie James said it was being discussed.

.........

Confidence is not an issue with Romo. Neither is mobility, Bledsoe's biggest weakness. Romo also has a quicker release, all of which should lead to fewer sacks - and, as Owens hopes, more hookups to No. 81 on broken plays.

``Once he gets outside that pocket, he can make some things happen,'' Owens said. ``He has some coaches who will be in his ear to just get the ball to the playmakers and everything will work out well.''

The knocks on Romo are his lack of experience, obviously, as well average arm strength and a tendency to make what Parcells calls ``impulse'' throws.

Owens seems to be maturing.

In the past, he wouldn't have waited until the quarterback was benched before he started blaming his lack of production on him.

Nice job, 81. :bench:

maybe they're right, maybe Romo is T.O's answer. I mean the poor guy has had to suffer through so many horrible qb's like Young and McNabb. Romo obviously trumps these losers who didn't know what they were doing. Sweet baby jesus on a whole wheat cracker, I'm gonna save Parcell's life and hire a sniper to off this 25 million dollar c*mstain.

Give me a break; everything TO said makes me sick. When was he trying to develop "that bond" with Bledsoe? When he didn't show up for involuntary workouts? When he was riding his bike in preseason? Bledsoe completed three balls to TO in the end zone the week before. Where was the praise then? What a bunch of crap.

My take on the situation is this: Dallas is using the opposite approach to TO than teams in the past. They are giving TO his way by forcing the ball to him and giving him the QB he wants. I think this is good news for TO and TO owners but bad news for Dallas. TO will now have his chance to single handedly lead Dallas to the SB. Time will tell all!

Since when did Brady James become the mouth piece of the Cowboys? Never a more appropriate time for a "who are you?" Saw him giving an interview the other day when the rest of the defense declined.

I mentioned the same in another thread a while ago about Parcells bending over and taking one up the azz to appease TO. Sad really.

To me the telling part is Owens running his yap. That's expected, but the fact that the team has discussed lobbying for a QB change. That means it WAS time for Bledsoe to go.

Were there any rumblings from camp that maybe Romo should have been the starter?

How about lobbying for a new O-Line. What I find very curious is that the other offensive skill players are silent. J Jones, Terry Glenn, etc. to me they are the real Cowboys, TO is a pretender.

I know Cruzer was one that was worried about that O-line. I just can't imagine knowing they had a bad line they didn't think of starting Romo.

Maybe they have respect for Bledsoe? TO wouldn't.

They are better off with Bledsoe behind center. Parcells benched Bledsoe as a scapegoat for his team's poor performance this season.

Is that Tuna, or chicken?
