bigmarc27 24 Posted January 22, 2007 I hear newsgroups are really good, but I don't know how to use those. I use Limewire, but normally they only have a couple of popular songs and nothing more.

MahSoonerz 0 Posted January 22, 2007 Soulseek is definitely your answer. It is designed specifically for whole albums. You can see the bitrates and individual tracks and everything. I've never dl'd anything from there which wasn't what it said it was. Since it was started by electronic music artists to swap their own stuff, you can find a lot of obscure stuff you would never find in a torrent. But it really has just about everything. Torrents are fine if you have popular tastes (not that there's anything wrong with that), are looking to replace all your ZZ Top records at once, or if you are into weird audiophile formats like aac or lossless. I am genushaha over there, in case you or any other slsk users have questions or want to talk football.
MahSoonerz 0 Posted January 22, 2007 Adding a bit more now that I'm at the home computer. Soulseek is different, you dl from individual users instead of from everybody at once like torrents. Yet I have found it's about as efficient a delivery system. Because of that feature you get more of a community, people are more likely to chat with you and you can talk to folks all over the world. But it's not required if you want to be antisocial. They also have a good faq which answers all the n00b questions clearly. For torrents, BitTorrent is very good, I use BitComet which is similar. With those I believe there are also good tutorials easily available.
