online diet plans

Recommended Posts

Frau Uderpong tells me last night that she needs to go on a diet. She claims that she needs some form of motivation/peer pressure to get her started. Has anyone (or their wife) had experience with ediets or weightwatchers online? Are they worth it? Personally, I could never understand the desire to pay money to lose weight, but apparently it works for women. If I'm going to have to drop cash to motivate her, I want to find a decent one.

TIA.

All diet plans/pills are crap. If they worked, there would be no fat people. Eat less and exercise.

You are preeching to the choir on that one, but since I will be forced to pay for nothing, I want to make sure I get the best nothing possible.

My wife used weight watchers to lose her preggo wait after the boy was born and it worked.

Her sister is using it as well and losing weight too.

Its really common sense type stuff and just having self control.

But with the weight watchers there is the added pressure of weighing in...hitting your goals...and if you lose to your goal and make "lifetime" you don't have to keep paying...as long as you maintain that weight.

Seriously, check out a book on behavior modification. You can do all the real work that weight watchers or anyone else would do yourself. If you want, use the money you would spend on a program to reinforce sticking to a diet. I could explain in greater detail later. Behavior analysis is part of what I do for a living. Unlike the scammers, I won't charge anything.

Depends on Motivation.

My wife did the Oprah diet thing she found online and in like 3 months took off all her baby fat...

If it's virtual food, you'll looke like Mary Kate Olsen in no time.

itsatip that calorieking.com is pretty good for that mamby pamby motivational stuff. Their forums are quite good for women, but since I'm 100% male I didn't use or need to use them.

I personally bought their palm os calorie tracker software though, which rocks because it lists the calories for everything. Knowing how many calories I was eating every day, along with the guidance in The Hacker's Diet (best free diet advice EVAH, http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/www/hackdiet.html ), helped me lose 30 pounds from June '06 to December'06, and I have kept it off over the holidays and through to the Super Bowl.

Excellent links. I think what she really wants is a service that provides sample meal plans, recipes, and the ability to simulate a weigh-in to track her weight. Maybe she will get into the forums, but I doubt it. I told her that a book and excel spreadsheet would meet her goals, but she seems to believe that you need to pay money for a legitimate program.
