swamp dog 0 Posted March 11, 2007 This is great if your team has no other holes to fill. I'm suspecting -- U.P. homer goggles aside -- that a team that's been 22-178 over the last seven years might have more ways to spend their money and roster space. Crazy talk Don't forget they wasted a high pick on Calhoun, too. the lions had the 29th ranked rushing offense last year, much of it attributed to having to start walmart greeters at rb after their entire rb corps went on ir. yeah, they have so many more holes to fill that they should ignore their running game--like the packers are doing. crazy talk you mean the calhoun that you creamed yourself over last spring because he went to wisconsin and you dreamed of him wearing mustard-colored pants? yep: IR is a biatch. looks like he's headed there again this year. but the lions should just about that and not sign any rbs. there's absolutely nothing not to like about this signing. you're grabbing at straws and fishing, of which i'll indulge you this one post to simply point out your silliness. They have two young high picks already. Calhoun will be back; Jones probably, too. Why spend more money on two journeymen when you have gaping holes every where on the team? You're the guy who says Favre should retire every year because he's holding the team back. And he's the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL, not a journeyman running back. Yet when Detroit spends money on two average players when they have wasted two high draft picks on running backs already, it's a brilliant move. Detroit is not winning anytime soon.... time to start preparing for the future. That includes drafting a quarterback, too. HTH!!
Mack 1 6 Posted March 11, 2007 ...who isn't "replaceable"? how worse can it possibly get? it can't. Again, I say that any team that has Fernando Bryant and Stanley Wilson as their starting CBs is in a world of hurt....so yes, it CAN get worse. ....last year's draft was solid A little too early to say. You have Sims and little else; the jury is still out on Bullocks, though.

HTH!! calhoun is rumored to be going on ir again this season before it even starts, and he's an unknown. kj's status is also a ?? adding both bell and duckett are excellent moves. they have added other players--a de (white) and a tackle (foster). they're not going to fill all their holes in the first week of march. relax. at least they're trying to fill *some* gaping holes, unlike some teams that aren't doing a damn thing Again, I say that any team that has Fernando Bryant and Stanley Wilson as their starting CBs is in a world of hurt....so yes, it CAN get worse. A little too early to say. You have Sims and little else; the jury is still out on Bullocks, though. okay, i have you down they'll pick #1 overall next year instead of #2; they could win 0-2 games instead of 3; they could be ranked #32 in total defense instead of late 20-something. nobody is disagreeing with you about the need for a cb. but given the above, it's really not as dire as it seems in relation to what it means about the lions "now being worse"--especially since bly SUCKED last year in rod's system anyway. that's the part you need to acknowledge. aside from that, who, right now, should they be targeting in free agency that they've obviously let slip away? clements and his $80 mill? edjr 6,602 Posted March 11, 2007 has Millen won executive of the year yet in the NFL? he's overdue.
Mack 1 6 Posted March 12, 2007 aside from that, who, right now, should they be targeting in free agency that they've obviously let slip away? clements and his $80 mill? The Lions have acknowledged their need for CBs, what with bringing in Buffalo's back-up CB Kiwaukee Thomas for a visit and all. As for your question who they should target, they could start with Indy's CBs, David and Harper. They're not world beaters, but they're Super Bowl champs, they've played in Rod's defensive "system," and by all accounts they're character players. Killer says they'll target CBs in the draft, but their draft history picking secondary players hasn't be stellar, that we all know.
