Tarheel Boy 0 Posted March 26, 2007 Now that the Heels season is done, it's time to talk NBA playoffs. The Mavs have been playing great all year long and still have a huge chip on their shoulder from the debacle of last June. (Why is it that my favorite teams melt down in the last 6 or 7 minutes of games with double digit leads?) Anyway, there's still games left, but they are sitting in good position right now for the #1 seed in the playoffs. They have done a great job this year of working together as a true team. They have been able to find different players to step up and make the difference in games whether that's Dirk, Howard, Harris, or Terry. They need to keep playing with the same intensity they have been to secure the #1 seed. Let Phoenix and San Antonio beat each other up in the second round. I can't wait for the playoffs to kick in. I talked Mrs. TBoy into getting tickets for the first playoff game.
Big Blue 06 195 Posted March 26, 2007 I'm a Knicks fan. The season ended about a 2 months ago when they fell out of contention.

Tarheel Boy 0 Posted March 26, 2007 I'm a Knicks fan. The season ended about a 2 months ago when they fell out of contention. Sorry, dude. While I don't like putting expectations on teams, I'll be disappointed if the Mavs don't make it back to the Finals. There's no reason why they shouldn't win it all, but after watching them choke last year anything's possible. This team is just amazing though. The more I watch him, the more Jason Terry is becoming my favorite Mav. They've shown all year long they can play any sort of tempo. I will say though, if I hear the fans at the AAC chant MVP when Dirk's at the line and the game not yet done one more time I'm going to focking scream. Damn, the middle of April can't get here quick enough.
Voltaire 5,388 Posted March 26, 2007 I like the Mavs and they certainly look like they're due. Mark Cuban only irritates me a little. Less than most, I guess, because I never see him on TV. Avery Johnson more than makes up for him. I like Dirk, I like the style they play. They've got a tough road with Houston/Utah in the second round, and Phoenix/SA in the West Finals. Should make some fine basketball. The west has so many strong teams, I'm glad Detroit is in the East. Don't get me wrong- Miami, Cleveland, and Chicago are good teams and all but not nearly so dangerous as the west's top five.
Big Blue 06 195 Posted March 26, 2007 I took the Knicks over for the season at 32.5. 3 more wins and I don't have to root for these guys anymore.

If they face the Warriors in the first round that could be scary seeing how Golden State has owned them recently. Regardless of who they play it's going to be a dogfight. And I agree in that I don't see how anyone can't like Avery Johnson. He's a class act through and through. He rips these players during the games and everyone on the team really respects him. That's not easy to find in the league today.
DBZFan2K 0 Posted March 26, 2007 Mavericks are going all the way. With how they lost the NBA Finals only two things could happen: 1) they could go into a downward spiral of regret, or 2) they could get pissed off and play their butts off to make things right for themselves. They chose option 2 and should get the job done. I'm in awe of how well the organization has done considering they let the eventual 2-time NBA MVP walk. The biggest thing they've done is keep the same team intact without mixing up the chemistry too much. The good thing is Devon George is getting plenty of rest and will be ready come playoff time. They keep impressing me every game. I thought they might go into a lull after choking to Phoenix last week, but they have bouned back nicely. They have a six game lead on Phoenix, but they need to treat it like it's only 2 games.

Went to maybe 10 of the home games, Mavs game next Sunday being the last. Made enough money selling the others to pay for the ones we went to. But it is all about the playoff tix.
