2007 NFL Draft Weekend Team Thread: San Francisco 49ers

Recommended Posts

Passing thought: DeWayne Jarrett could be a Niner.

almost too good a value to pass up.

I know we just got Jackson, but I was hoping Jarrett or Smith would fall to the 9ers...now will they take Smith if the Falcons take Jarrett?

Jarrett right there for the 9ers and they traded with the Colts...

Dang... Indy doesn't have a 2nd rounder...wonder what they got.

Yeah, I'm fine with a trade down, but Indy's spot seems pretty far down. I would guess we'll trade back up into the 2nd. Tank Tyler maybe?

So much for losing that 1st rounder next year, and we got the 4th back from the Jackson trade. Wheelin' and dealin' with Nolan

How are the Niners going to bolster the D-line? Seems like that is a pretty obvious hole to fill with their next pick, but it's going to get a little thin by then........

Good gamesmanship by Nolan making the DJax and OT picks a wash, but I'd have rather had this year's 2nd rounder than next year's 1st from Indy, which is going to be fairly low.

THe value adds up, sure. But Jarret was a guy I would have liked, and there were still some excellent D-Linemen out there...

I guess technically we got Staley as our 2nd round pick at the price of moving down next year when everything's added up? Not bad...not bad.

figure with 8 more picks (3rd and 4th rounds) Nolan's bound to hit on one? I am guessing they take at least 2 defensive linemen and potentially a short yardage back.

LOOOOOOOVE the Jason Hill pick...I think he may be a very good (better than 75% of the ones taken ahead of him) WR in the NFL.

Between Willis, Staley, and now Jason Hill, I am extremely happy with Day One--and they still have one pick to go. D-Line?

Nice first day for the 9ers...McDonald has had injuries, but if that doesn't become an issue, they got an easily 2nd round talent in the 3rd round.

I'd love to see the 49ers grab a few D-linemen in round 4, maybe take a chance on DE/OLB Jacob Ford (I really like this kid) and maybe Kareen Brown at DT.

Is the Darrell Jackson trade official??

Updating an ongoing storyline, the Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks WR Darrell Jackson is still being shopped to the San Francisco 49ers. However, the 49ers aren't ready to pull the trigger on the deal - at least not yet. Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell said it is an ongoing situation and nothing has happened. He noted something could be worked out Sunday, April 29, but left the door open for it not working out, too. Jackson underwent a physical with the 49ers Saturday, April 28, which he passed.

:dunno:

I've been away since Friday, but I listened to some of the first round on the WGR 550 in Buffalo. They weren't too happy when the Niners took Willis. I think the Niners did extremely well, and am quite happy. I love the Willis pick, what with the Niners gong into the 3-4 - remember the Giants in the 80s and the Saints in the 90s deemed linebacking to be critical to the 3-4 defense. And as scooter pointed out, we got back the 1st we gave up for Staley, even if it's lower down. OL was another need and they've addressed that with what many had as a Top 3 lineman.

Now, if the Jackson deal can go down....

We gave up pick 124 (originally the Jets pick) for Jackson.

We got another Senior on the team...Jay Moore DE from Nebraska...don't know much about him, but NFL Network people seem to like him.

Now, if he can stay healthy....

Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers DE Jay Moore said he would like to lose 10 pounds so he can play outside linebacker.

D-Lineman is one of our needs, right? This has not been addressed yet...they just took a Safety out of Washington Dashon Goldson.

Well, we just got a DT...Joe Cohen out of Florida...all Seniors so far selected by the 9ers.

Not sure about the last few defensive players we drafted, but I really liked our draft. We picked up two future leaders in Willis and Staley. Two new weapons at WR for Alex Smith. And the rest to buff up our defense. We even got that late RB I was looking for just in case we don't resign Mo Hicks.
