so looking to get a new laptop but dont need anything fancy.

 

All we really use it for is internet email dl songs normal stuff no gaming or anything

for $399 is 512 mb ddr2 memory and 100gb hard drive enough for the average user?

 

It says you can double your memory to 1GB for $39.98 installed is that worth it also?

That laptop should be fine for what you do. The 100 Gig HD is fine but you absolutely have to double the RAM. Windows Vista is a huge memory hog.

512mb and a 100 gB hard drive should be fine if all you're going to do is surf and download.

 

 

 

ETA: Yes, as indicated above, if you're doing Vista over XP, you'll want at least a gig of ram.
