p.man 7 Posted June 16, 2007 I don't usually report bad news but this is just freaky. I think they said it was a girl. The news report said...A little kid was playing on their swingset and started to slide down the slide, but somehow caught her head in a rope that was hanging there and accidently hanged herself. They tried to do CPR but it was too late. The girl was from Wyckoff N.J. I can't understand how or why a rope would be so close to the slide area. Usually they are way over to the side. Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted June 16, 2007 im in NJ Are you expressing sadness for the little girl who is also from your state or just expressing sadness that you're from NJ? Either way, I feel sorry for everyone in that state.

Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted June 16, 2007 Actually, the girl found out that Chad Pennington will remain the starting QB and offed herself.
Voltaire 5,538 Posted June 16, 2007 I can't understand how or why a rope would be so close to the slide area. Usually they are way over to the side. Likely it was a net made of rope- either as safety to keep the kids from falling down or to climb up. They're (local schools) removing playground equipment all over the country because of lawsuits over child safety. The school near where I grew up had a jungle gym, slides, basketball courts, climbing bars and all sorts of cool things to play on. Now it's empty of all that stuff. Nothing. And it p*sses me off to no end. But this (and the lawyers and insurace companies) are the reason why it's all being removed.

This was no netting and it wasn't put there for saftey. This was an actual rope. They showed them cutting it down after taking pictures of it. It was tied up right over the top of where someone would start to slide. And what was haging right infront was the rope looking like a lasso. She should have seen the thing hanging right infront of her face, but I guess kids don't think that way. So when she started to slide down her head went right into the loop and it closed tightly around her neck. The Mother was inside and didn't see it happen. Buy the time help arrived it was to late. Poor thing. I don't blaim the Mother at all, but when I saw it, it almost looked like someone put it there on purpose. I thought that way because I've never seen anyone have an actual rope/noose hanging directly where the sliders would be.

What kind of idiot would put a contraption like that in the way? If they manage to launch a lawsuit over this, they should be shot on the spot.
