Week 1 Great Plays

Recommended Posts

So with Week 1 only days away who are the great plays?

I'm in the $100,000 Fantasy Challenge ( http://100k.nbcsports.com ) which allows you to start anyone you want but you're only allowed to play the guy once for the season.

You play 2 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K

I'm going with...and i'm saving manning, LT, ocho et al for later....

Brees -> Should be a shootout playing Indy

Leinert -> at SF

Bush -> see brees

Brandon Jacobs -> I think he'll get all the carries early and he is healthy(probably won't be all season)

Colston -> see bush

Steve Smith -> at STL

Cotchery -> against the Pats depleted secondary

Witten

Gostkowski

Pats Def

Anyone else playing for the $100k grand prize?

Any more suggestions/strategy?

I'm starting LT, which should be a pretty good play :overhead:

Seriously though, I like Santonio Holmes @ CLE...I think Steelers will be passing more, and he has a shot at having a great game for someone I picked up in like the 12th round. Now, he's my #2 Flex, and my #4 WR, but still...nice to get production at the bottom of the order :overhead:

The game last 12 weeks - so you'll have to start 36 WR's. I just think holmes may be a better play later in the season. I see hines ward passing the torch along at some point...

i'm going with holmes over some others as well. i'm a steeler homer and i honestly feel that they will want to make a statement in the air right off the bat (geared towards getting back to the run more later as the season wears on) and that holmes will be the recipient of 1 or 2 big plays to go with 5 or so little plays and the end result will be a good game.

getting back to the original posters point, i think that the no/indi game will be a shootout, but so will many no games, why waste all your no games right off the bat?

jacobs against dallas is risky....FWP might be a better play

Maybe I'll flip that - I like jacobs early just because I think he is an injury risk. The fact that I can watch him on SNF helps too...

In a league where you can only use a player once (like the original poster) I wouldnt save manning, LT, etc. too long because if they get hurt you wouldn't get to use them.

Bobby Wade

1. He is playing ATL

2. He was targeted heavily in game 3 of preseason

3. He is only WR MN has that can catch

Matt Leinart and Larry Fitzgerald seem like good plays against SanFran.

Frank Gore also looks good against the Cards.

Joe Addai, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Bush, Drew Brees all figure to play in the highest scoring game of the year.

I like Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook against the Packers. I also like Kevin Curtis to get deep against Green Bay.

Travis Henry against Buffalo, his former team, should go off.

Just a few that I've thought about.

Hope your right Mr. Chinaski, cuz you've named basically half my team (McNabb, Harrison, Curtis, Henry and even Mare)

I entered that contest as well my line-up for thie week.

QB

Peyton Manning: Saving alot of other names for later, but wanted to have a few big guns out there to get a good start. As you said this will be a shoot-out game.

Jake Delhomme: St. Louis defense is very porous.

RB:

Larry Johnson: Texans can't stop anybody and LJ will make a statement in game 1.

Lamont Jordan: Might as well start him against Detroit at home.

WR

Andre Johnson: Shaub will be looking his way quite often to start the year.

Santonio Holmes: Pitts will come out firing and I like Holmes to grab a long TD.

Wes Welker: Moss is banged up and Welker is the type of player that kills the Jets.

TE

Eric Johnson: Might as well use him before he gets injured. Shoot out city.

D

Pitts: Cleveland is the suck.

I think you go branch over holmes... Holmes will be a better play later in the season...

Guys I'm starting that I picked late are.

Henderson, Saints: Think this will be a high scoring affair. Must start 3 WRs.

Vikes Defense At Home against the Falcons with Rookie Head Coach and Vick situation.

Who I don't know about, yet I'm starting them.

Jamal Lewis over T. Bell. This is my #2 RB choice for the next few weeks. Ouch.

Jerry Porter over Patric Crayton: Welcome to hell in my other league. Must start 3 and one of these guys has to fill my #3 WR spot.

With the question marks in NE with Moss why not start Stallworth?

Maybe I have missed an injury or something but he has been way under the radar this year. Heck Wes Welker, #3, has gotten more love.

I'm going with stallworth...probably will be the best week to start him.
