LaMont Jordan

Recommended Posts

I was laughed at for taking him as my #2 RB in round 4. Not laughing now, he's killing Maroney. I took CBS's advice that he looked great in preseason and he might save my ass!

Jordon is the man. He's going to have a great year. It will be a tough call for me all year at RB2 as I got him and Portis on the cheap in my auction.

1) it's detroit

2) rhodes is back in 3 weeks

thanks for playing

1) good matchups don't mean anything if a RB sucks - Jordan made the most of the opportunity

2) rhodes is back in 3 weeks to take over the Justin Fargas role

thank you for playing and being the type who let Boogie fall to me in the late rounds on draft day :pointstosky:

detroits defense is terrible! Curry and McCown also lit them up today. I'm not running out to pick them up. Nothing wrong with picking Jordan up late though.

I have him in my flex spot with Westbrook and Henry. Needless to say I roled today, big yardage league. Oh yeah Moss helped too. Let's stop all the Rhodes talk he will only SPELL Jordan and that is it.

I got 21 FFP from LaMont. Raiders look ok, but not inept, like last year. I'm thinkin' their pass D is average, their O is average, once they work Culpepper into the lineup, because he's better than McClown. At least they have competitive coaching, and some desire. I'm not a Raider homer, but i liked what i saw today, even though they lost. They played like they gave a sh!t.

If they can get Jamarcus in, it'll help.

the problem is that oakland doesn't have the detroit d on their schedule again this year. my advice is to sell high this week.

seriously.

I'm not going to get carries away with Jordan, although I think he'll end up being one of the bigger draft steals this year (top 13-18 RB drafted late). If nothing else, he is big and will get the goal line carries. Obviously, he can catch the ball too as shown two years ago and today.

I just get a kick out of people who really haven't taken a step back and really understood how inept the coaching staff in Oakland was last year. The O.C. hadn't been involved in football (not just the NFL but FOOTBALL) in something like 27 years before the Raiders called the Bed and Breakfast he owned and operated and pulled him out the front door and onto their staff. From a personal perspective, think of all the things that changed over the last 27 years (no IPOD, Atari still the main system, etc). Now move that perspective to the NFL. Do you really think things today are the same as they were 27 years ago? Hell no. Not saying the Raiders are all of a sudden going to be the Colts of the West, but I am saying they will resemble an NFL team.

i know the raiders put up some yardage today but i've got to tell you i watched the entire game and i was not impressed with oakland, their coaching decisions, or their offense. that this ended up being a game for a bit in the second half is a testament more to their opponent today than it is the raiders.

How did LaMont get most of his yardage? I saw he had a 12 yard TD run. Was it mostly a few big plays, or consistent running throughout the game?

It was consistent throughout, a steady dose of running and pass-catching. He resembled the Lamont Jordan of two years ago (a perfect dual threat).

Jordan is one of the few backs in the NFL that isn't splitting major time with another RB. he'll get goal line touches and several catches.... I got him as my #3 RB. Ronnie Brown is riding the pine next week for Jordan.

You're right, Swamp, but the Raiders @ home this week put out a better product than they ever did last year. I'm just sayin' that Kiffin at least game planned for the Lions better than the numbnuts from the 70's ever would have. At least they'll play to try to win, and not just to get it over with. Hell, even Jerry Porter looked like he was trying.

I also watched the game, and I disagree.

They have enough talent on offense and defense to get it done. Particularly on the offensive line, I think they've finally figured out what works. Robert Gallery at Left Guard is more effective than he was at either Tackle position. The other linemen compliment each other well and *gasp* actually provide some running lanes and time for the QB in the pocket. Coaching decisions? How about the fact they opened up with an empty backfield, a formation that was NEVER run last season. Lamont Jordan catching all these passes? Tom Walsh didn't even have an HB-Screen play in his dusty playbook. Lamont Jordan had more receiving yards in this game than he did all last season. He also had 9 catches in today's game compared to just 10 total in 2006. In other words, this coaching staff is willing to cater to the talent they have on their roster (Boogie is a great receiver out of the backfield). Sure, the head coach is just a kid, but he'll get wiser as the season rolls along. Give it time and they can only improve.

Well said, Mambo. I was seriously encouraged by this game, and believe me, I was prepared not to be. McCown-eeh. Better than Walter. At least he looks at the whole field. The Raiders may not be a playoff team this year, but I think they'll give a few teams something to think about.
