WHO TO START AT FLEX

Recommended Posts

I have a pretty wild choice for my flex option this week. Just so you know, in my league TD passes are 6 points, receivers get a point for every reception.. and all the yardage is standard.

My starting lineup so far is:

QB: Carson Palmer

RB: Ladanian Tomlinson

RB: Marion Barber

WR: Plaxico Burress

WR: Marquis Colston

TE: Alge Crumpler

K: Neil Rackers

D/ST: Vikings

Flex: ?

My options at flex are:

RB Tatum Bell vs. the Vikings run-stuffing D

RB Ahman Green vs. a good Carolina team and D

QB Joey Harrington vs. Jacksonville

WR Devery Henderson vs. Tampa Bay

WR Amani Toomer vs. NY Jets with no Eli Manning

RB Chris Brown vs. Indianapolis

TE Eric Johson vs. Tampa Bay

the thing is, its 6 points for a TD pass.. I have Chad Pennington but he's not starting, so I'm thinking of starting Joey Harrington. He had a bad first week, but he's due to do better.

I am also considering Toomer and Henderson... maybe the saints will blow up a bit on tampa bay.

I would assume Tatum Bell, Chris Brown, and Ahman Green aren't good starts because they are either facing a very good team and will be passing more or are up against a good run defense.

So what would you do?

I'm inclined to say C. Brown vs Indy. Jax is not a bad run D and look what he did there .

Defenses have to respect V. Young with his feet and the play action Norm Chow will

have a game plan for Indy. I have Indy's D on the pine this week.

I might lean towards Henderson. Brees will want to bounce back and Henderson might be a recipient of some of his passes.

Harrington will improve but I don't know if it will be against JAX. One good thing is he might pass a bunch since they will probably be behind early and often.

Thanks for answering mine.

I would not start Bell, because he is going against a tough D.

I would not start Johnson, because he is not a stud TE.

I would not start Amani Toomer, because Eli may not be starting and they are playing a underated GB defense.

I would not start Chris Brown, because I am not sold on him, and Indy has a good run D when Sanders plays

I would not start Aman Green, because he is going against a tough Car D, which shut down SJax.

I would not start Harrington, because he is going against a tough Jax secondary.

I would have to say Henderson, because NO is looking to rebound and Tampa is not that good. It is a little risky though starting two WRs on one team.

thanks for the help

Thanks for mine. I think you start of harrington makes the most sense in terms of % to get throwing TD's and the team will be playing from behind. It must be nice to use any player as a flex. Good luck.

I'd lean towards Harrington as well. I'm not sold on Bell on the ground, and I think Det. will abandon the run early.

Thanks for mine. I would go Henderson or Johnson. The guy WAS a stud a couple years back and he looked good against the Colts in the opener, if people remember. He caught several passes, and that is clutch in a PPR league. I think that those options are your best options, good luck.

Thanks for all of your replies.

I'd LIKE to start Chris Brown.. but #1 he's been injury-prone in the past. #2 the titans will probably be down and throwing the ball more and #3 Brown is sharing carries and has been inconsistent, and Indy's D is much improved.

It IS a gamble to play both Colston AND Henderson... but the Saints WERE the #1 offense in the league for a reason. Can't we all assume that Brees will be airing it out on sunday against Tampa?

I still want to lean to playing a QB based only on the fact that a TD pass is 6 points. Harrington had a bad game last week, but come on, it's not like he plays like that every week, just like Burress ain't getting 3 TD's again this week. He'll lucky to even get 1.

What do you guys think about starting all Saints at Wideout and Tight End? Have Colston, Henderson, and Eric Johnson at TE and leave Plaxico out... or is that too much of a risk.

The choice is down to:

Henderson

Harrington

Chris Brown

I've gotten some varying replies.. but do keep them coming! I'll answer anyone's post, just leave a link.

I think you have to go Brown. He will at leas get his touches and Jax is just as good a run D as Indy and look what he did. Remember Brown is in a contract year and both he and TEN benefit from him having a top notch year! He gets a better contract and TEN gets something for him.

Thanks for seeing mine.

I personally don't like starting so many players from the same team, but that being said, it is TB and they are not very good. It could pay off for you!
