Sure....I've never made a sig bet before.

Ok, it's on.

Honestly, I don't see how the Flyers win this. The only hope I have is that the Habs choke under the pressure.

It's gonna be a heck of a series, it'll go long, six or seven for sure. The Habs will have the advantage tonight: This will be the Flyers 3rd game in 4 nights in three different cities. They might come out a little flat.

Briere is in for a rough welcome, not sure if it will put him off his game or not, but it will funny to watch.

Where's Mephisto for this? Someone post a link at the Curly board for him.

I could certainly see ways they might win it. I think the breaking points will be special teams, how Brière plays, and how your pylons D-Men hold up against our speed. I think we have a way better D than Washington's and you guys are faster and more talented up front than the Bruins. If you didn't watch the Habs series much, Chara and Axelsson played what may have been the best hockey I've ever seen from them to nullify our PP (and I think our line rejigging in the last game will make it less likely to happen again in this series - honestly, every time people have begun to doubt Carbo as a coach, he has pulled a rabbit out of his hat), so you'll need for someone to step up big time. The other thing you won't benefit from either like the Bruins did is the Habs having Koivu and Bouillon on the sidelines. Koivu is on a mission right now. My fear is that this idiot Downie will decide to take one for the team and do something stupid to him.

Anyways...we can have a sig bet but just so you know, I really don't give a shiot. If you want me to write that the Habs, and Canadians in general suck, that Bush is the best and that I'd suck Betty White's cooter over Kate Beckinsale's, then go to town. I've never really understood the purpose of trying to make an alias look bad.

Didn't do much to put Chara off his game. Aside from being deeked out of his jock in the first game and by Streit in the last for the killer goal.

If the Habs are tied or ahead after one tonight, that game will be over as the Flyers have to be at least a little more tired. The rest of the series will be a war however.

Don't think we deserved it tonight. But a win is a win is a win. I just hope they actually try skating next game.

Stole one there, I hope Breeze Bye enjoyed his last game.

Post-game Carbo said it was a bad bounce not an error. I think he'll still be in. Honestly man, not many of our d-men played well tonight.

True enough, I was surprised with Komisareks lack of discipline. But Breezer needs a rest at least. Maybe 2 games off would be beneficial for him?

Is it Saturday yet?

:pointstosky: <------ Stanley!

I agree he needs a rest but I think he'll get it in Philly. Sitting him now would be like benching him for the mistake and I don't think Carbo will do that. Our D-men need to start wheeling around with the puck faster and skating hard down ice. There was waaaaay too much of this slowly-going-back-for-the-puck-and-going-behind-the-net going on. It gives other teams way too much time to forecheck. Commentators said that the Habs had really bad line changes all game long so I guess the D-Men had to wait for those.

Gotta love Kosto getting the game winner. That'll get him going hard for the rest of the series. That line "gets" its role so much: dump it in and forecheck hard.

The Kosto line is now the 3rd line.

Maybe we'll see Tender in for Dandenault next game. I still disagree with you regarding Breezer, I think he's exhausted. One goal does not all star make. He's a liability out there. His shortcomings on defense far out weigh any offense he can provide.

I'm not gonna shed a tear if Carbo sits him...I just don't think he'll do it now. I'm guessing that if the line changes work better next game, our d-men will look far better.

The guy I'm wondering about is Ryder. I think he may have played his last game in Montreal when he didn't really show up against Boston after being benched. That guy has been an enigma. Wouldn't mind seeing Lats in there. I think Dandy needs to have his butt benched once in a while to get him going.

Focking robbed. B)

Richards gets a penalty with 1 min left for a check??

And please tell me how Kovalev's goal wasn't a high stick. How can you chop the puck out of the air, and then hit the top of the crossbar with the follow through and it not be ruled a high stick?

The Flyers were robbed, plain and simple. Montreal is a really good team, but they shouldn't have won that way.

Oh, and Carey Price's weak glove hand had been exposed. Expect to see that glove tested a lot in gm 2.

I knew this was coming...come on man, the Richards knee on knee was definitely a penalty. If they stop calling stuff like that, you'll see tons of injuries. I don't think either Stephens or Richards complained about it. And on the Kovalev goal, Ron McLain on Hockey Night in Canada (who hates the Habs just as much as anyone else on that Toronto-loving crew) showed what I think he said was the exact replay frame the league had looked at, and he had to agree they made the right call. The stick was level with the crossbar. At worst you could say that it was inconclusive, which would also make the goal count.

Did you see the replay of the hit? It wasn't knee on knee, although from up top it did look like it. Richards hit him with the with the shoulder first. It's a tough call for a ref, so don't make it with a minute left in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

And how was the BLADE of the stick level when hit lands on top of the crossbar, after it contacts the puck? That call doesn't p1ss me off as much as the Richards penalty though.

This game just left a real bad taste in my mouth. Too much BS, not enough hockey. I miss the time when the refs let the players decide the outcome of the game.

Sorry but he still hits the knee just before the shoulder hits Kovy, even on that replay from both angles. Did Stephens or Richards complain about it?

I don't know about the Kovalev goal but all I can tell you is that McLain, a former ref who hates the Habs, said the call was OK based on what he saw.

Anyways, if Montreal mails it in for most of the game on Saturday like they did last night, you'll be handing us our asses. No doubt in my mind.

Stevens rarely complains about anything, extremely stoic. Richards was p!ssed. He is the type of player that is always in control mentally. You could see how upset he was though.

I just hate the way the special teams had so much to do with the outcome. Let the players win the game. If it was reversed, and the Flyers benefited from the call, I would say the same thing.

Either way, it was still a really good game. And hopefully this series goes 6-7 games.

And that Komasarik(sp) guy. Pretty focking nasty player. Reminds me of Derian Hatcher was he was a Dallas Star. He really looks to kill people, good stuff. :pointstosky:

Komisarek loves to hit people.

He's also nailing Elisha Cuthbert. (or was)

Except they didn't mail it in. If not for Biron with that huge horseshoe up his ass, you guys would be down about 8-4 in that game. If the Habs keep playing this way, no way Biron can maintain that form.

Why not? :pointstosky:

Goalies get hot, he's riding that wave right now. And It's not like Biron is a rookie falling flat on his face, ala Carey Price.

I'm guessing you haven't seen Price play in the playoffs. He has been stone cold calm and is way better than Huet. Komisarek said yesterday that guys don't have to worry about whether he'll make a save and they can focus on their game.

Price is awesome.

If Ron McLean hates the Habs, then Greg Millen cancels him. His cheerleading is making the HNIC telecasts unwatchable. :overhead:

The Flubbers aren't anywhere near as disciplined/determined as Boston and we're still beating Boston despite them trying to hit the - apparently - soft Habs. We're beating them at their game. They said they would beat us into submission and we are more than holding our own. If you want to play the open game instead, we'll bury goals like there's no tomorrow. Carbo has this team playing like a team and adapting to their opponents. I have little doubt we'll get way more than 1 goal in each of the four games we'll need to beat you. Our team isn't a one-line team with a lousy choker goalie, and a couple of half decent d-men like the Caps. But you'll find that out soon enough. Add to that the fact that Brière said he chose the Flyers instead of the Habs because the Flyers had a better team and the Habs have all the motivation they need. He better tie his chinstrap because he'll be a stud alright, firmly planted into the boards by Komisarek and company.

Sure we can have a sig bet, whatever that proves. :overhead:

Maybe the Habs should just bench their goalie and skate 6 players. Whoever they put in can't stop the puck anyway.

The Habs goals last night showed me that the horseshoe was finally beginning to become unlodged from his ass. We finally got a couple of breaks. These are now three game 7s for the Habs and remember how dominant they played the Bruins in game 7 after looking like they were ready to fold.

Bégin's penalty was so stupid and deserved. I'm expecting a huge game from him tomorrow.

Finally getting some breaks? The refs handing the Habs power plays on bogus calls isn't enough?

And just because the Flyers goalie actually catches the puck when it goes glove side, it doesn't mean he's lucky.

I'm not so sure it's been "horseshoes" and "breaks".

With about 10 games to go in the regular season, I had no idea what it was that had Montreal playing for home ice in the East. I took a peek at their stats, and one thing immediately jumped out at me. Montreal's +/- leader....Alexei Kovalev.... +8. Compare that to the Red Wings of the world, with multiple players over +20. Rough translation: stop the Habs' powerplay, and they're an ordinary team with ordinary goaltending.

Fast forward to the playoffs. The Habs PP is "clicking" at 13.7%, and have had several complete fizzles while 5 on 3, leading to huge momentum shifts. And now the Habs are on the brink of elimination in the 2nd round. He!!, if the Bruins had any offensive talent whatsoever, the Flyers would have been playing the Rangers this round. I don't think Game 7 was the domination that the score indicated. The Bruins missed a myriad of chances in the first half of the game due to their stone hands. Then Streit scored that backbreaker to make it 2-0, and you could just see the Bruins deflate.

Now I'm not saying that the series is over by any means. But to me, the Habs' best (and possibly only) chance is if their bread and butter, their power play, turns it around in a big hurry.

Allrighty then...lemme have it! Congrats to the Flyers!!!

Disappointed by how it ended but pretty good season anyway from a team that wasn't supposed to come close to making the playoffs. Our D will get bigger and better next year. Hopefully Price gets his confidence back and we'll need to get a little more size and moxie up front. I'm happy a good chunk of the crowd stayed and applauded at the end. I think this series cost Streit a very large paycheck...not sure the Habs will be so keen to resign him after choking big time in the playoffs. We'll have the bucks to sign free agents...now we'll just have to see who wants to come.
