Jack Bauer Wet Dream Sequence #42

Yeah, I saw that episode of "24" too. It was a good one. A little unrealistic though. But Jack can do amazing things with a blackberry. :bench:

I would imagine that there are more instances where enemies are keeping/hiding dangerous military secrets than there are of Canadian Engineers being swept up by the CIA.

Pretty simple way to find out. If these guys confessed & we found the location of these places and found something, we'd have a rock-solid case against them. The Justice Department would trot them out on display and George and Co would say "See! We're winning! Torture's good!" - Seen a lot of that in the past 7 years?

Only one case like that I know of. That dude that looks like Ron Jeremy - and they milked (are milking) the hell out of that.

I bet I can find more people who have been released from Guantanamo without so much as a parking ticket than you can find of successfully prosecuted terrorists. Wanna bet??

'Cause that sure solves the "more instances where enemies than innocents" debate right there. :bench:

You don't have full disclosure and you'll never be able to find out how and when torture was used or what was found out from it.

There's an enemy right now in Afghanistan or Iraq who's being tortured and forced to give up information needed to keep a few US soldiers from being killed.

Again, war isn't tidy, neat, orderly, or humane. The minute all the free, happy people back on US soil start trying to turn our soldiers into choir boys, the sooner we will lose any/every war we're in. This is why war should be a last resort. Asking your guys to play by a set of rules that the other guy won't is asking too much. This is why 13 Colonies were able to defeat the mighty English; this is why a tiny SouthEast Asia nation was able to defeat the mighty USA.

Nobody is "for" torture anymore than they're "for" napalm.

You fuckin' people... you have no idea how to defend a nation. All you did was weaken a country today, Kaffee. That's all you did. You put people's lives in danger. Sweet dreams, son.

So that's a no, on the whole "more enemies than innocents" thing, huh? Okay Col. Jessep.

Oh and BTW - Did you know we're still using napalm?? You should see what fire-roasted nine-year olds look like. You're sure right about not being humane.

Its more likely that the torture pictures that came out of Abu Ghraib acted as a recruitment tools for future terrorists resulting in more us casualties. And from written accounts they have gotten more false information than anything else out of the prisoners. A tortured guy is more likely to say whatever he thinks the torturer wants to hear.

Here is a good article about how the administration developed the torture. Its too long a read for most of you guys but if you want to learn something then give it a try:

my question is, why did the Bush Administration lie about torturing?

Lying is what they do (along with stomping on the Constitution and running our country into the shitter). This shouldn't shock anybody. Just wait until they've been out of office for a few years.......the things we'll find out then............. :dunno:

The US shouldn't engage in that crap. :dunno:

It's amazing, isn't it? When we see or hear of terrorists torturing our soldiers, we call them every name in the book. When we do it, no problem.

Here's a really shiity story: Look up the story of Maher Arar

Dude's a perfectly respectable engineer in Canada. One day, returning from a family vacation in Tunisia, his flight to Canada makes a stop in the U.S. - and the U.S. siezes him. Detains him, renders him to Syria where he is TORTURED FOR A YEAR until he finally makes a false confession. Even WITH the false confession - the Syrians - not exactly nice people - announce after a year of horrific conditions and torture - after a year of investigation by the RCMP, The US, The Syrians - NOBODY can find any link to him and Al Qaeda. - And he's released back to Canada.

Fast Forward: Turns out the State Department and the Canadians both focked up. Dude was totally innocent. While the Canadians have not only officially exhonerated him and apologized (and paid a healthy settlement) Negroleeza Rice STILL hasn't apologized.

Dude is my age. Married has kids. Had been a Canadian citizen for 20 years. Left Syria at 17. Went to college, got a job, paid his taxes, raised a family - Did NOTHING wrong. And one day, the US snatches him and tortures him (or better yet - renders him and outsources the torture).

And yet, not only has the US not even so much as even focking apologized, he and his entire family are still on "the watch list" . - Which, if you know ANYthing about this focking list - it's an abolute joke. Some terrorist one time signed into the Ogalala Holiday Inn as John Smith and now every John Smith is on the wait list. - And despite lawsuit after lawsuit, thousands of innocent Americans - Priests, Elderly white women - you name it - are on this focking list.

That's our government.

And that's why we shouldn't torture people we merely "suspect" - Because over government is a cadre of ass-covering fock-ups.

Oh and BTW: Ask yourself: How much coverage did the American MSM give this story? How many of you are hearing this for the first time?

America has a history of being close-minded and (wrongly) treating innocent people like shit. Unfortunately, the Bush administration has just taken this to a whole new level.

On the subject of torture, I'd like to think that as Americans, we're better than that. If we're a country of ideals, not torturing other human beings should be one that shouldn't be too hard to reach.

However, ABC News was told that at least three CIA officers declined to be trained in the techniques before a cadre of 14 were selected to use them on a dozen top al Qaeda suspects in order to obtain critical information. In at least one instance, ABC News was told that the techniques led to questionable information aimed at pleasing the interrogators and that this information had a significant impact on U.S. actions in Iraq.

According to CIA sources, Ibn al Shaykh al Libbi, after two weeks of enhanced interrogation, made statements that were designed to tell the interrogators what they wanted to hear. Sources say Al Libbi had been subjected to each of the progressively harsher techniques in turn and finally broke after being water boarded and then left to stand naked in his cold cell overnight where he was doused with cold water at regular intervals.

His statements became part of the basis for the Bush administration claims that Iraq trained al Qaeda members to use biochemical weapons. Sources tell ABC that it was later established that al Libbi had no knowledge of such training or weapons and fabricated the statements because he was terrified of further harsh treatment.

"This is the problem with using the waterboard. They get so desperate that they begin telling you what they think you want to hear," one source said.

Colin Powell used this informtion in his UN speech for war against Iraq. This false confession helped lead us to war in Iraq. Great focking job!
