  1. 1. Which rookie RB should now go #1 overall?

    • McFadden ~ Raiders
      26
    • Stewart ~ Panthers
      9

For most of the spring and summer I have observed McFadden being taken #1 overall in rookie drafts, but also noticed Stewart being taken earlier in redraft leagues.

Recently I have seen a few rookie drafts with Stewart going #1, just looking to hear from the class on this today.

I am interested to know more as well. We have a rookie/restock draft coming up in a week. I have #3 and McFadden is going #1. Not sure who the guy right before me is taking. I was leaning towards Stewart, then Forte then Smith. I can't really make up my mind. :music_guitarred:

Up until very recently it has been McFadden and then Stewart at 1 and 2; now, people are going for Stewart instead, and do tend to offer compelling reasons, just wanted to see what feedback might be out there to see if there is a theme to be found.

Here's THE compelling reason why Stewart:

The Raiders still focking suck.

Actually, I'm curious to see as well. You are right RLLD that for a while it was McFadden then everybody else, then Stewart began to creep into the equation. Now I think it's swung back toward McFadden again. Stewart's continued to injury concerns and Fox's insistence on veterans is dropping Stewart's stock a bit. It's also curious to see that the Mendenhall love seems to be fading as well, as people start looking at Forte/Smith more because it appears they have the lock on the starting gigs. Chris Johnson is getting all sorts of hype now and Ray Rice is beginning to, as his Hightower. I'm also going to guess that rookie WR are starting climb a bit based on guys like Hardy and Royal, but still not anywhere near the top 8 picks or so I'm guessing.

Stated as only Meph can do it.... :overhead:

Yeah, the QB play, lack of tangible receiving threats have all been mentioned. What I think gets little press right now is that the Raiders have done a reasonable job of beefing up on defense, particularly in the passing game. If they all the sudden turn to ball control, then perhaps McFadden emerges on touched alone.....not that running with 10 people in the box will be very easy...

Let me know when the defense starts springing holes for McFadden and then I'll vote for him.

I'm pretty sure the Raiders were 2nd in rushing last year .... not sure why they get knocked for this.

They plug in any back and they produce ... LJordan, MBush, JFargas ... DMcFadden!

I would take Matt Forte - seriously.

He's going to be far and away the best rookie RB this season, and quite possibly in the future. The guy has serious skills.

A lot of people haven't really been able to watch this guy play because of his small school status, but he really has an amazing skill set.

I'm really not sold on McFadden, I think he very well could be great, but too many expect him to be Adrian Peterson - therefore lifting his draft stock much too high.

And as for J. Stewart - he seems to have lit a fire under Deangelo Williams, who was a college superstar himself. Stewart's game seems like it would translate to the pros pretty well, but I have to wonder if a lot of his success was somewhat related to running the ball out of that spread offense in Oregon. And even so, he really hasn't impressed in Panthers camp.

He hasn't played in Panther's camp...this past week was his first practice and game action. There's no way DeAngelo holds him off in the long run. DeAngelo couldn't get past DeShaun Foster, and Stewart is WAY more talented than him. I also think Mendenhall is in the same ballpark there. I'm not a McFadden fan, but that's just my preference. I like what I've seen of Forte, not particularly great at anything but seems to be pretty good at all aspects.
