Houston can't possibly play any worse. I hope.

Bunch of talentless fuckos.

Rushing yards have been the difference in the UAB/Houston game

UAB - 118

Houston - 9

Didn't expect a shutout though...looks like the under was a solid bet.

just curious, if you believe WF is so dominant, why do you think vegas would make the line so close? I just always like to look at the other end of the spectrum before i place a huge bet.

Well, UH -18 was apparently a bad play, but a homer one for me.

But only 7 touchdowns and we hit the over!!!!!

After watching the first half of both of these ball games, I think I want to puke all over myself. I don't think I have ever been more wrong about two offenses in one night before in my life. Just pitiful.

I said that I think Clemson is the far and away the better rushing team in this game and they go out and post -6 yards on the ground in the first half. I feel pretty fortunate with the score being 3-0, but the way the Clemson offense looks so far, that is all Wake needs to cover against me only gettin 2.5. Geesh.

Then I said that with FAU scoring 49 on UAB's defense, who knows what Houston will do. Well I know now. They put up 3 freaking points, that's what they did. I blame Damned for this game. Did you have to post your first pick this year tonight and be on the same side as me? Thank goodness it was only a 1 unit play. Sorry Damned, but I have to point the blame somewhere, because I look downright awful with these two picks tonight.

Back to the drawing board.

Houston has certainly made things interesting.

2 out of 3 aint bad. hit the under on wake/clemson and looks like Houston turned it around.

stopped watching the clemson wake game with clemson up 7-3... didn't like those 9 unanswered

NCAA YTD: 46-36-5; +23.45 units

CFL YTD: 9-11-1; -5.7 units

NFL YTD: 22-14-1; +13.9 units

Thursday

Adding: Cle/WF UNDER (42.5) for 3 units WINNER

Adding: OVER UAB/HOU (67.5) for 2 units LOSER

Houston (-18) for 3 units WINNER

I like taking a game that is a statistical mismatch. If all things are equal, such as penalties and turnovers, then the mismatch should produce a mismatched result.

Houston averages 545 yards per game.

Houston allows 406 yards per game.

UAB averages 387 yards per game.

UAB allows 461 yards per game.

I'll save you the trouble of doing the math. That's 203 total yards of difference per game on average. That should translate to a cover just by itself. UAB lost last year at home to Houston 49-10, and there really isn't much difference from last year to this year. Houston has outstatted 4 of their 5 opponents, generally leading to an impression an underrated team, considering they are 2-3. They had issues with hurricanes earlier this year, having a game moved to another venue, and letting it affect them in the following game too. Finally, putting the distractions behind them, they upset East Carolina 41-24 in their last outing, and is coming off a bye. This is a team that is probably ascending, considering the 3 game losing streak of getting punched out by Oklahoma St, then losing a pair of 3 pt games to Air Force and Colorado St, a pair of MWC teams, a far, far superior conference than the talent challenged Conf USA. Beating East Carolina is a sign that the team is finally playing up to their potential.

UAB is something like 0-17 SU last 17 road games, 0-3 on the road this year, losing to Fla Atl 49-34, Tenn 35-3, and So Car 26-13. Fla Atl is not good as we have seen the last two weeks, Tenn never blows out anybody but did here, and I'm still startled that So Car couldn't find any offense in their matchup, despite how bad So Car offense is. The last game for UAB was a home loss to an awful, awful, awful, overrated Memphis team 33-30, in a game that went back and forth. I'm not impressed with their resume at all. Also, you can probably guess which way I am leaning for tomorrow night's game.

Basically, there is no reason that Houston can't score on every possession. It's a fine line to walk to lay 18 points in a game that could become a shootout, but if Houston can occasionally slow down the running/passing threat of the UAB QB, then Houston can win by 30+ points. Lay the lumber.

Good luck to all.

In retrospect, I should have said there is no reason Houston can't score on every possession in the 2ND HALF. Wow. 42-0 comeback. Just another day at the office. Thanks to new-guru for helping me keep an open mind on the O/U tonight. One game hit easy, the other agonizingly lost by less than a FG. Oh, yeah. The Phillies won, for another hit. Right now, good times, good times. Nice last 6 days or so. But it all culminates with Ok St this weekend. We shall see.

I would just like to say ..... FLUCK CLEMSON!

Has there ever been a more consistently overrated team the past few years? I should know better as I'm a diehard Miami fan. Damn, how any Bowden still has a job is beyond me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hats off to Wake as they just have superior coaching and good recruiting to fit their type of play. Defense of theirs does look good.

Did you guys see the end of this Houston/UAB game? Wacky as hell. With the score 45-20 and the line at kickoff closing at Houston -18, UAB drives down the field with under a minute left. Webb throws a pass to his receiver's back shoulder right at the goal line with only 15 seconds left. It hits him right in his hands, with the DB out of position to make a play, and he just flat out drops the sure touchdown. Webb throws an incomplete pass on the next down. On 4th down he throws a little check down pass to the middle of the field and the guy gets tackled at the 20 keeping the clock running. With 2 seconds left in a 45-20 game UAB's head coach, Neil Calloway, calls a timeout! There isn't a person in the whole stadium that isn't shocked except for the guy who called the timeout. The tv cameras show his own players looking over at him like he is crazy. The final play Webb heaves the ball into the endzone and every degenerate in the world that actually has a play on this game holds their collective breath. The ball gets picked off in the endzone and the DB takes it out heading the other way with it, cutting across the enire field. When he finally gets on the other side it looks like he has nothing but open real estate between him and a pick six, when low and behold some fat lineman comes out of nowhere and grabs him for a split second. The DB shakes him loose and starts scampering downfield again, cutting all the way back across to the side of the field that this fiasco started. He fianlly gets brought down at about the UAB 25, by what seems to be the last UAB player standing.

I was on the phone throughout all of this with my degenerate friend that had a dime on the over at 66.5. What an absolute circus. I just don't understand how people go through life without sweating things like this seemingly meaningless game between two teams that are going nowhere on a Thursday night. IMHO, they are dead. Most people might think I'm crazy, but at least I live my life always in action.

NCAA YTD: 48-41-3; 28.58

I don't really like tonight's games much but will get a little action going. Looking forward to many good games this weekend though. Here we go:

UAB (+18) LOSS Both teams have a good offense, UAB run game will keep it close since Houston D is not good against it)

Wake Forest (-1) WIN Going with the home team even though Clemson may be the popular pick. Clemson is just too unpredictable IMO.

Wake Forest/Clemson (Under 42) WIN Weather may be a factor but I really like the WF defense.

All games for 1 unit, good luck tonight.

NCAA YTD: 50-42; +29.48

I'll take 2 of 3 anyday of the week. Thought I had the UAB game in the bag, good job to those who played Houston. Oh well, on to tomorrow night and the weekend. I'm still deciding on most of my weekend picks but my two big plays are in - Utah and UL Lafayette. I'm very tempted to add Ok St but we'll see.

BTW, Damned, I owe you an apology. I jumped the gun on blaming you for my own bad Houston play. It has just always seemed easier to me to blame other people for my own mistakes.

You almost got those 7tds you were looking for in the second half. Houston did their part, scoring 6 of them for you. If you read my post just above, you will see that you had great chance at sweeping your plays on the last play. Unreal.

With the new rule changes, there is an overall perception that the unders are coming in.

I am a believer in this, although I feel that as the season goes on, this edge will diminish as more 2008 data becomes available. But...so far so good, I am 10-3 on my under plays saving my skin this year. Strangely enough, I am also 2-0 on my over plays.

It also appears the under has come in on all three games already this week, so this trend still appears alive and well. I really hate watching a game I have the under on, as it is very hard to cheer on the punter...

It's always a chore to read a quote by you, pea brain.. How about you try learning how to do them properly?

Do you actually think you are uncovering some kind of scandal with Dr Bob and me? Must we revisit a topic we have covered extensively over the last few year. Sigh. Here we go again. I cap the games during the week, yet don't put them in early because I want to see what Dr Bob thinks about the games. He caps them the same way I do, looking at statistical analysis and technical advantages, with some consideration for situational trends. He has a good track record over the last 10 years or so, so it's probably best not to fade him too much. I want to know if he saw the game the same way as I did. There is no shame in that, that's what we do in this focking thread, comparing notes and seeing if the others agree with our selections. The more opinions, the better. And if my circled games and Dr Bob agree, no point in waiting, I'll put them in and consider the other games on the board for additional plays, or put out a game like Oklahoma St early.

Is this some kind of retaliation by you because your little itty bitty feelings were hurt by me last week? When you posted your plays, I pointed out which services you lifted them from. Every play. Dr Bob. Spylock. See, the difference between you and me is that I can actually handicap a game. I can have an original, well though out opinion, win or lose, but I can do it. You are a slave to services. You need them to tell you who to bet on, every single time. I don't care if you follow other people's picks, because to some extent we all do it, but to have the balls to rip me for losing a game is ridiculous. Do you realize, stupid, that if a Dr Bob game lost and I lost, you lost too because you followed the play as well. So, you are celebrating for losing money. How dumb. Yes, most of the time, Dr Bob games end up on my card. But I bet quite a few games, so they aren't my only plays.

Louisville? He doesn't have a play on the game. What the hell are you talking about?

I look forward to the day when you are tied up in a chair, I take a big sh!t in your mouth, then duck tape your lips and nose and watch you squirm.

Only my second post within a betting thread.

I generally only bet one or two NCAA and NFL bets a week and Missouri has been my bet all year. I am 4-1 with them and want to take them again but the line just seems too high.

With Philly and some of the other regs on the board taking Ok State big should I just punt this week and play it safe?

Thx in advance,

I didn't forget about you, $epphori$. You definitely had the right side. But I wouldn't go breaking your arm to pat yourself on the back for the pick. Wake looked absolutely dead offensively in the second half and had to convert a 3rd and 24 from inside their own 10 with 8 minutes to go and drive the length of the field to punch it in to cover when they were atrocious in the red zone all night long. You can't tell me you weren't sweating. Nice pick, but I'm not sure I would be looking for praise. A pretty awful game to watch. Thank goodness I watched it on tivo. If I would have devoted over 3 hours of my life watching that game, I would have been a whole lot more upset about losing 2 c-notes.

As a little reminder, I'm up 2 units on the week. You are even, but still a slave to the juice so far. Just calling a spade a spade. Anymore of these call outs and I might have to go phillybear on ya. Please don't make me do that. :-)

After yesterday...

NCAA YTD: 48-37-5; +27.25 units

CFL YTD: 9-11-1; -5.7 units

NFL YTD: 22-14-1; +13.9 units

It is true that I slumped a bit after a good start, and dipped into the negatives as recently as Friday of last week, but I'm back in the positives in college football at this point, but that can change quickly.
