kmbryant09 1 Posted December 14, 2008 Not fantasy, but NFL MVP - who wins it?? Drew Brees - Isn't on pace anymore to set break Marino's record, but who knows after playing Detroit - I really think he could go for 400 and 5 against them, and finish with ~5,000 yards and 34-35 TDs...I know his team won't make the playoffs, but with #s like that, and no other run-away contender, I think he still wins it... Kurt Warner - Not quite the stats Brees has, and likely will lose ground over the final few weeks, but his team is in the playoffs. However, I HOPE people don't simply say the Cards are in the playoffs, because they play in arguably the worst division ever...Also, he is in a pass first system with the best WR tandem in the NFL, while Brees has done it with players like Lance Moore, Pierre Thomas, and Billy Miller while Bush and Colston miss time/ineffective. DeAngelo Williams - 6 weeks ago who woulda thought he was even a top20 candidate, but the guy has been simply astounding. I don't know for sure, but he's got like 1200 rush yards and 13 total TDs with 3 games to play...He'll finish with 1500-1600 yards and 15-18 TDs, while giving some carries to JStew - and his team will win 12-13 games and be a #1 or 2 seed, he may actually win this thing, come to think of it... I really can't think of anyone else...You look at the Giants and Titans, and no ONE player stands out, I mean E. Manning has been solid but not stellar, and is not even the top 2 or 3 reasons why his team is winning. Haynesworth is dominant, but again he isnt the sole difference maker on his team. Chris Johnson and Lendale have split a lot of the #s, and Kerry Collins is simply a game-manager...Is there any other candidates I'm missing?!?!?! I mean, Peyton Manning is probably a distant 4th...even with a very subpar season, his team will win 11 or 12 games with a bunch of injuries, and the guy has 15 TDs and 3 INTs in his last 7, while the Colts are the hottest team in the league, winning 7 in a row after beating the Lions this week... Giants Fan 85 Posted December 14, 2008 Warner wins it. You do realize that since the Cardinals came to Arizona they have ONE .... that's right ONE ... winning season.
robertd52 0 Posted December 14, 2008 Agreed, I like Warner here...a poster in some other thread pointed out that Warner was the most blitzed QB in the league (if I recall correctly), and to make matters worse (better), his rating was quite a bit above 100 in those situations!!! For the ups and downs that the guy has been through in his late starting NFL career, what he is doing is amazing. Brees will get his.
kmbryant09 1 Posted December 14, 2008 Yeah but the Saints will actually finish with a comparative record as the Cardinals, especially when you consider the Cards get cupcakes SF, STL, and Seattle SIX TIMES THIS YEAR...I mean the Saints, @ 7-7, are in 4th place in their division. When fully healthy, Brees has fewer weapons than Warner, and factor in that Bush will miss 5-6 games, and Colston misses 6 games, and is still putting up BETTER NUMBERS than Warner...I completely agree that what Warner is doing is amazing and against all odds, but I just don't understand how people feel he is having a better season than Brees....You put the Cardinals in the NFC South (a real division), and they don't sniff the playoffs... Good points. Im glad im not voting!
smashmouths@blf 33 Posted December 14, 2008 Sleeper here, but I can see someone like Troy Polamalu getting some votes. Maybe Ed Reed too. I personally think Warner wins it unless he craps his pants in the next 3 weeks (possible). Portis had a great shot until a couple weeks ago as well.
Giants Fan 85 Posted December 14, 2008 Let me say this again .... since the Cardinals came to Phoenix in the late 80's .... I can count their winning seasons with my d!ck. 9-7 .... one time.
Bgards79 0 Posted December 14, 2008 I know this would never happen, but who has meant more to their team this year than Matt Ryan??
Cuse9 131 Posted December 14, 2008 Kurt Warner. I was leaning toward Brett Favre a few weeks ago, but a couple losses later, it's Warner. Brees team isn't good enough. Even harder than predicting MVP is coach of the year. Jeff Fisher. Best record in the league. Tom Coughlin. Second best record in the league in the hardest division. Mike Smith. Amazing turn around in Atlanta. Tony Sporano. Miami 1-15 to possibly winning the division. John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin, Eric Mangini, Bill Belicheck, Jim Zorn. There have been some amazing coaching jobs this year.

Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted December 14, 2008 I'd give it to Warner over Brees because with New Orleans at least you have a competent running game. With the Cards, their whole offense rests on the shoulders of Warner and they're winning. On that point, I think they need to start Arrington as the #1 RB there because he shows more talent than Hightower. As far as their division goes, how many years did the Pats get with Jets, Bills and Phins not really being competitive?
