t.j 35 Posted March 3, 2009 Matt Cassell over the last ten games blah blah blah Let's not forget how easy New England's schedule was this year. In the last 10 games he played against vSt. Louis (2-14) @Indy (12-4, offense scored 0 TDs in an 18-15 loss) vBuffalo (7-9) vJets (9-7, looked good in a shootout loss) @Miami (11-5, looked good in a big win) vPitt (12-4, got dominated in a big loss) @Seattle (4-12) @Oakland (5-11) vArizona (9-7, division-clinched Cardinals rolled over and played dead in the bad weather) @Buffalo (7-9) Whoopty-doo

The Pats had to win out to have a shot at the playoffs--it was a lot of pressure to put on a first year starter and yet Cassell lead them to victories in their last four games. One of those victories was a last minute come from behind win against Seattle--you can argue the game shouldn't have been that close in the first place, but it still demonstrates that Cassel developed poise when it mattered most. As mentioned, he threw for over 400 yards two weeks in a row. Altogether, he finished with a very impressive statistical year despite struggling mightily at times early on. As I mentioned before, there are still some negatives that make me thing Cassel wouldn't do as well in just any system, but you still have to hand it to the guy for how he played at the end of last year. IGotWorms 4,057 Posted March 4, 2009 Well, since you told me to say what I want about the schedule, I will say that he couldn't have asked for an easier slate of games to win out against. True, but he still won all of them, and in quite an impressive fashion to boot.
BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted March 4, 2009 Well I'll admit it was an incredibly easy schedule. Very fair points. But he did play better late in the season. However fair points, fair points. Maybe I've given him more credit than deserved?
