To Trade Or Not To Trade

Recommended Posts

Well, in my big money 10 team PPR league I'm at 3-3 despite being the number two point scorer (and probably #1 on bench points). My roommate is desperate by now at 2-4 and this week in particular, as P. Manning, LT2, and Desean Jackson all won't be playing this week. I'm pretty satisfied with my team all-around, but am always willing to make an upgrade. We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 RB/WR, 2 WR, 1 WR/TE, 1 TE, etc. This is my team:

QB: Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, Kevin Kolb

RB: Frank Gore, Ahmad Bradshaw, Marshawn Lynch, Darren McFadden, Tim Hightower

WR: Greg Jennings, Jeremy Maclin, Dwayne Bowe, Mike Williams (TB), Michael Crabtree, Johnny Knox

TE: Dallas Clark, Brent Celek, Ben Watson

D: The Steel Curtain

K: Vacant

I picked up Kolb just so the guy I'm playing couldn't this week. I'll pick up a kicker Sunday morning, dropping Kolb or just throwing him in a deal to my roommate, who has P. Manning on bye and DMAC playing Chicago.

Our potential trade is:

I get

Michael Turner

Jason Snelling

He gets:

Marshawn Lynch

Jeremy Maclin

Kevin Kolb (who I'm going to drop in a few days anyway)

The question is, should I give up some considerable talent and much needed depth at WR to upgrade my already deep RB corps? I feel that the drop-off between Maclin and either Knox, Crabtree, or M. Williams is pretty large. I see Knox and Crabtree as low-end WR2 / high-end WR3 moving forward and Maclin as a solid WR2. Also, Lynch has some serious skills and could end up being a mid to low range RB2. Turner, however, will be a low-end RB1 option going forward which would make my already strong RBs ridiculous. This trade would also allow me to trade a RB for a very good WR at some point before the week 11 trade deadline. I'm also pretty high on McFadden, who my roommate tried to trade for at first. I think that Oakland is better than most people give them credit for and Run DMC looked like a beast earlier in the season (anyone who watched any of the first few games can vouch for this). OAK also has a fairly easy schedule in the fantasy playoffs.

This looks like a pretty fair trade to me. You're essentially getting a #1 RB and his valueable handcuff for a starting wideout and a back mired in a RBBC.

The big pieces are Turner for Maclin. The Seahawks backfield is muddled and they're playing over their heads - I wouldn't want to be stuck starting Lynch for any period of time. Trading Kolb is risky because there always is the chance that Reid sticks with him throughout the year, but so what? You've already got an excellent starter and backup.

I'd probably do this deal.

Do the trade for Turner and Snelling. Maclin is going to have a great week this week until DJAX comes back but Lynch is still going to be in a committee.

Im not huge on this trade... Turner is not a good ppr RB.. and neither is Snelling. Besides Hightower you have solid RBs.

You cant really count on Bowe to have that good of a week every week and Maclin is your number one reciever in points..

I wouldn't make that trade and Lynch should start producing, especially this week

Ya, I don't think I'm going to pull the trigger. I might do it if I can trade someone like Bowe or Knox instead of Maclin tho. I do think that Lynch will be pretty productive and Maclin will probably be a top 20 WR at least.

I would pull the trigger, I think the loss of DJax hurts Maclin. It's easier to double cover him knowing there are not too many other solid options on the Eagles. As far as Maclin having a huge week this week....I doubt it against Tennessee's D. I wouldn't worry too much about Kolb being big either, I think last week was the exception as opposed to the rule. This trade could work out if you can ship some of your backup RBs for a better WR.
