naomi 343 Posted April 13, 2011 Women (and "women") don't all share one collective consciousness, so we can't ask our inner Oprahs what's up with that and get back to you, unfortunately But, I have thought about this. At first I just thought it was amusing since it comes off blatantly egotistical. Sometimes she does share the cover...for what that's worth. I realized later (from working for a lady who subscribes) that her magazine will sell better if she's on it. That demographic is more inspired to buy it seeing her there. The cult of Oprah. The subconscious message conveyed is that everything contained inside obviously has her stamp of approval. If ego wasn't a factor for her at all, it might still be like that. I do the grocery shopping and I always see her magazine while waiting in line, and I was wondering why she is always on her own cover. I have too much time on my hands, I guess.
