#11 pick in 12 team leagues

Recommended Posts

Not to highjack but for people with the 11th pick would you trade positions with 1st overall?

I have 10th and the 1st's owner might be interested in a total swap. I think it's a go from my end.

After having already had 2 drafts from the 11 hole yes i would do that. You can have any of the big 2 backs and then get another very good RB at 2.12 and 3.1 get either another very good RB or whatever else you want. Hell you might get lucky and have MJD, AP or Charles be there at the end of round 2.

Got 12/12 next week. I generally think you need to let the draft come to you... Run on RBs... grab QB/WR, after the run, I usually find slight drop offs in value down the line, but huge gains at the ignored spots.

I figure the Top 3 RBS, Top 3 QBs are gone for sure. Probably Megatron. Maybe a dumb pick. 8 picks. 3 more WR/RBs then me. Not taking a TE. If Stafford is there, I'll nab him.

My expectations for my league: Will take 1 RB, then Top 4 QB (if avail), then WR. ESPN standard settings.

RB - Charles or DMC.

QB - Stafford

WR - JJ or Roddy

The problem with that is there are a ton of very good WRs and very few very good RBs and QBs. After the big 4 QBs there are a few very serviceable QBs but nothing worth picking in round 2-4 unless you reach early. There are 13 RBs who should go in top 3 rounds and then its a toss up. So you can ignore the run but you will probably be left with scraps

Rank Players

Tier 1
1 LeSean McCoy, Phi (7)
2 Ray Rice, Bal (8)
3 Arian Foster, Hou (8)
Tier 2
4 Chris Johnson, Ten (11)
5 Darren McFadden, Oak (5)
6 Matt Forte, Chi (6)
7 Jamaal Charles, KC (7)
8 Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac (6)
9 DeMarco Murray, Dal (5)
10 Adrian Peterson, Min (11)
Tier 3
11 Ryan Mathews, SD (7)
12 Marshawn Lynch, Sea (11)
13 Steven Jackson, StL (9)

Personally, I'm not sold on 2 Tier 2 RBs as a solid foundation for my team. I'm going to grab the most comfortable RB, and if Stafford is there, take him, otherwise a WR is really likely. I'll wait on a non-top 4 qb until late, and if a top TE falls to the 3/4, hope to grab Graham. I do believe in value, and drafting with that in mind. I'm also risk-averse, and my drafts reflect that too. Just another voice in the crowd. Not like I've got a column or anything.

Yup, I was trying to work a deal to move up to 2nd. Would have paid more than just an even swap.

Ok I wasn't able to move up, without giving up too much. He wanted like my 5th round pick straight up. No dice.

I'm hoping McFadden falls to me. Unsure of what other RB to take there.

I'm not super sold on taking a Forte/Lynch type late first. If McFadden is gone, and Brady too, I"m probably look at either Graham/RB, Stafford/RB or RB/RB. Slight chance I consider RB/Julio but I like WRS at 3/4 5/6 a lot.

I'm thinking Ryan in the 4th.

I'm also trying to balance what I think a top QB, 6 points, and top TE, is worth considered to having an RB at flex. Since we can start a flex I can see coming out of the first 4 rounds with 3 RBs-something like McFadden-Matthews-D. Martin-M. Ryan

Any thoughts on that?

Which team of these would you rather have?

3 approaches: TE/RB/RB, QB/RB/RB, RB/RB/RB

1. Stafford ** Elite QB, solid rbs, good wrs, decent te

2. Forte

3. Martin

4. Harvin

5. Maclin

6. E. Decker

7. Hillis

8 .Redman

9. Pettigrew

1. McFadden ** Weak wrs, elite TE, top 6 qb imo, solid rbs

2. Graham

3. D. Martin

4. M. Ryan

5. A. Brown

6. E. Decker

7. T. Smith

8. Hillis

9. Wilson

1. McFadden ---Taking McFadden/Matthews with Martin as a flex could be huge. If I do this I'm debating whether to reach for Ryan at 4 or hope E. Manning falls-Ryan might too- to my 5th round pick. Usually both are gone though. So I might take one in the 4th and take the WR hit. Thoughts?

2. Matthews

3. D. Martin

4. Harvin

5. E. Manning

6. E. Decker

7. T. Smith

8. Hillis

9. Wilson

I had #10 pick in a 12 team PPR, I got Forte at 10 and came back with Matthews at 15 (my high risk high reward pick), but we got a keeper from last year 4th round and below, the guy I took over for drafted Julio Jones in the 8th last year so that was a no brainer for my keeper. This also put less pressure on me to get a WR immediately, (i ended up getting TE Hernandez in 3rd and Harvin 4th).

Got a couple more ESPN mocks from 10 in a 12.

This is a wet dream. Ryan/Eli are only lasting till the 5/6 like 20% of the time. They did here. Well Ryan did.

1. McFadden

2. Matthews

2. Marshall

4. D. Martin

5. Harvin

6. Ryan

1. McFadden ** Tried taking Julio 2nd.

2. Julio

3. Marshall

4. Martin

5. Colston

6. Rivers

1. McFadden

2. Graham

3. R. Matthews----Crazy Trent, Sproles, Bradshaw, Martin all there late 3rd...tons of value

4. D. Martin

5. Ryan ** Lasted again....

6. Maclin

7. R. Wayne

8. DHB

** Thoughts on these? Seems to be a lot of RB value in the 3rd. My biggest risk reward is whether to take value at 4 and wait/hope for Ryan/Eli at 5/6. Really want Ryan.

If you really want Ryan then take him in the 4th. I think I will take the risk and wait for the top QB (non-peyton) in rds 5-6 and hopefully Ryan, Eli or Romo are there. I will go either RB-RB-WR-RB or RB-TE-WR-RB. Still unsure of which to go with. Depends on the RBs that drop to end of rd1 (hoping for McFadden or CJ2K).

I'm doing some mocks on Fox Sports right now. I've seen Eli-Ryan go in the 2nd/3rd way before my 4th round pick.

If McFadeen is gone, I'm currently considering

1. Stafford

2. Graham/Julio/RB

3. RB

4. RB/ WR

I've been seeing Matthews, Trent, Martin, Bradshaw, Sproles, Lynch sometimes available at 3/4.

I did try mock drafts with Stafford/Graham combo, however my RBs tend to be too weak and practically forcing me to go RB-RB in 3rd-4th rd which then leaves my WRs weak as well. The question for then becomes: is it better to have Stafford or Graham?

I think it's better to have Graham.

Graham minus Vernon Davis = X, where Vernon Davis is a sixth or seventh round pick

Stafford minus Peyton Manning = Y, assumes Manning is a sixth or seventh rounder

I believe X > Y

Here's how my draft from 10, 12 teams, turned out tonight. If you saw the mocks I posted it was nothing like I was preparing(hoping) for. The end of the first round seems to throw you some turns and you just need to be ready for it. Tough to tell who will fall and value seems to be shifting all around with the running back injuries.

I wanted McFadden first round but kind of had to take Brees with him gone.

I had a tough time selling myself on any RB early second, knowing that I'd seen Martin/Sproles/Bradshaw at the 3/4 turn 99% of the time (Fox Sports) and occasionally Ryan Matthews, Lynch, S Jax, Trent....and some really crazy value.

Graham is a top 10 player on dougs board so I figure I come out of the first 2 rounds with 2 studs and hope(pray) some rbs are left at the 3/4 turn and take whatever is left at receiver. Kind of panned out how I imagined but it was down to the wire on rbs at 3/4. I could have been really f'd if Martin wasn't there. And Sproles is a very shaky 2 the more I think about it, although having P. Thomas makes me feel better about it.

I didn't get any receivers that jump off the page, but they should be steady week to week guys. I drafted DHB higher but I currently see Amendola as a more solid WR 3 until proven otherwise.

League is 6 points passing tds, .5 ppr, 3 wrs with a flex.

QB: Brees

RB: Martin

RB: Sproles

WR: Maclin

WR: Stevie

WR: Amendola

TE: Graham

Flex: DHB ?

K

D

Bench: Ryan Williams, J. Stewart, P. Thomas, K. Wright, R. Cobb

Deep Bench-(Will have to be dropped most likely for K/D) J. Best, J. Locker

Random notes:

I drafted Jonathan Stewart minutes after he was injured. I was watching the game. A first.

Depending upon how things in the New Orleans back field shape up, I'm half considering starting P. Thomas at flex-kind of playing 2/3rds of the NO back field. Especially if Ingram misses time.

I then would be starting 4 Saints.

Drafted 11 of 12 in a long-running PPR league last night. Big three QBs were already off the board, as well as McFadden and Murray. Picked up Graham as I want my first pick to be a stud, and a clear advantage over anyone else. Drafted Welker at the Rd 2 turn. 200 receptions easy there between the two.

Richardson fell to me at 3.11, and drafted Harvin at 4.02. I did have to scramble for RBs in the mid-rounds, but wound up with Kevin Smith/LeShoure, Ced Benson, and the Royster/Morris headache after I swore never to draft a Redskins RB again.

I was last to draft QBs as I missed all the runs, and wound up with Cutler/RGIII.

Matt, out of curiosity which RBs were available to you rd 1 & 2?

I picked 10 and 15 so quite a lot.

Only the top 3, CJ2K, Mcafdden-First pick

Forte and Charles went at the turn.

I def could have went Forte/Lynch, Lynch/Murray, Murray/Matthews, ect.......Or Brees/Graham and one of them.

I would have been a lot more gung ho about RB-RB if I got McFadden-Lynch.

I'm not totally sold on Murray or Dallas' line yet but maybe I should get over that. Matthews is hurt.

I'm going to disagree with you considering it's a PPR league. It's not the strongest team I've ever put together, but I think it will be competitive.

Opening week is looking like:

QB: Cutler

RB: Richardson

RB: Smith

WR: Welker

WR: Harvin

TE: Graham

Flex: S. Smith (Carolina)

K/Def: Whomever...

I missed out on the QB runs, so I drafted around Rds 8/9 for my QBs. I do think that Cutler will have a decent year with Marshall back. Richardson is a 3-down back behind a good OL, and should catch 30-40 passes. Welker should be over 100 catches again this year. Harvin had more touches than any other WR last year. Graham is just a stud and should see 100 catches as well. I can roll with Smith as a flex.

I'll have to play QB roulette this year, but last year I snuck Stafford in Rd 8, and this year there was no way I'd be able to get that kind of value again. RBs are waiver wire fodder. I won the league last year with Helu and Spiller in my lineup. If you don't get the top 3 or 4, then you're playing the WW all year long.
