Spec7ral 6 Posted September 30, 2012 Battle is a weird one to try and grade. He's only had more than 20 touches on the ground once in career (last year, and only 149 at that). He put up a 4 YPC, but only two TDs. He only broke 100 yards in one game, and was called the least explosive runner in the league. He was in a time share with Thomas Jones and McCLuster He's 29 now but being that he hadn't passed 200 touches on his career before this season, can he have that much wear and tear? Does that even matter if he's so slow? How did he play special teams his entire career if he's such a slug? The 52 yard scamper he put up last week was the longest of his career. So many reasons to stay away... but I just have a strange feeling he could become a serviceable flex... It's not like anyone in Haley's offense was much of a fantasy option in KC. Skinny_Bastard 157 Posted September 30, 2012 I love how you reply to your own posts over and over again to try and make it seem like people are conversing about how you are right, but you are alone and look pretty pathetic trying to insult me the way you have. i am stating what I think will happen this season. Mathews will bust. you dont like it so you call me an idiot. real mature there you bloddy twat of an ahole. you know what, keep mathews. start him every week. I hope you do I don't own Mathews but I see folks like you come on and throw out garbage all the time. Your crap will certainly give rookie fantasy ballers the wrong advice. 1,500 yards and 6 TD in 14 games are solid numbers. Outstanding if you project that out to 16 games. It's valid to point out he's not as valuable relative to expectations, but that doesn't mean he isn't worth a starting spot. Due to his injury I wouldn't think most people would have him as their #1. He's my 3rd back and I am more than happy to start him on my flex each week. Sure he could easily regress, or get hurt. Whats that regression going to look like though? He'd have to slip 10+ spots in the ranking to not be a #2, and even farther to be bench fodder. Even if I were to conced that regression what back in 15-25 range has the same upside. But the increased workload, mostly in the passing game with Tolbert gone, should offset most regression that could take place. It's fine if you don't think he'll match his expectations, but your being a bit obtuse. We need to compare Mathews to the rest of the pool, comparing him to himself is useless. Until he gets hurt or benched, he should starting in just about every league.
bigmark3333 11 Posted September 30, 2012 Judging by the start of this game, he may be losing more than goal line carries.
