nobody 2,667 Posted August 18, 2013 The teams with slow quarterbacks are running a read option where if they don't give the ball to the back it goes to a WR on a bubble screen. Eagles have been doing it with Foles and jags with gabbert and I even saw the pats run it a couple of times.
smashmouths@blf 33 Posted August 18, 2013 No I haven't. Interesting observation.
jerryskids 6,790 Posted August 18, 2013 I saw the Eagles/Foles do it, but figured it was a quirk of the Chip Kelly offense. Interesting... could have some PPR implications I suppose.
Fantasy Noob 10 Posted August 18, 2013 The bubble WR screen almost always gets destroyed at the NFL level the players are just too fast. Maybe the zone read can slow down the defense enough for it too work but I wouldn't hold my breath. I do love to see more zone read stuff, it will last until someones QB gets killed and then everyone will suddenly remember why having the QB run the ball in the NFL is a bad idea. Not that I don't think its a great strategy and wont work but you cant afford to have a $15million dollar player at the most critical position sitting on the bench. I think part of the reason for running it is so the opposing D sees it on tape and it keeps the CB honest on the edge. This will slow the CB from crashing down on the zone read and sticking wide on the WR.
