Mike FF Today 721 Posted June 8, 2014 Draft Buddy - Here we go for year #14 of the DB! The Draft Buddy is Excel-based and allows you to create customized cheatsheets for all your leagues and functions also a Draft tracker and manager. You can view screenshots of the program here. System Requirements: The DB program requires a version of Microsoft Excel in order to function. The benefit of Excel is that Draft Buddy is both Windows and Mac compatible, with one exception - Microsoft lost their heads a few years ago and stripped out vital code making the DB incompatible with Mac Office 2008. The good news is, the DB does work with all other versions of Mac Office, including Mac Office 2011. Open Draft Buddy, go to the action tab and hit Update Projections*. * If you've already input keepers or draft picks or draft pick trades or a custom draft order (anything you changed on auction or draft report tabs), make sure to change the reset options on the action tab to "no" before Compiling Cheatsheets. Chad32676 0 Posted August 16, 2014 Hey guys, Ive be a loyal customer for years. I live and die by your rankings and draft buddy every year. This is the first time Ive ever been baffled. Can you please help me out with this. In a ppr league, your overall rankings have Gerhart up at 8, Lacy way down at 15 and Jimmy Graham at 26. As I said, I always trust your rankings over any other site, but these seem to be way off. If you could explain, Id aprreciate it. Thanks.
Mike MacGregor 20 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi Chad. Thanks for the kind words! I think what you are seeing is a combination of the projections from MK, and the settings. In terms of projections Gerhart is higher than most places. Lacy is also projected lower than consensus. I think Graham is pretty much in line with usual expectations (as in, very good). Lets look at your settings. What is your starting lineup and backup set up on the rules tab? I opened Buddy, changed scoring to PPR and set the starters as QB = 1, RB = 2, WR = 3, TE = 1 and no flex, 12 teams, and I got quite different results with respect to Graham. As follows: Graham 7th Gerhart 12th Lacy 27th Let me know what your settings are at and we'll figure this out. Also make sure to check the PPR scoring is set for WR and TE. Chad32676 0 Posted August 16, 2014 I uploaded my settings right from my custom scoring that I have here on the site. Its PPR, QB = 1, RB = 2, WR = 3, TE = 1 and no flex, 12 teams. Graham seems to be the major issue. I do have PPR set, not sure what Im missing. Should I just start from scratch?
Mike MacGregor 20 Posted August 17, 2014 You can email me your copy of Draft Buddy and I'll take a look. Compiler@fftoday.com
Chad32676 0 Posted August 18, 2014 Thanks Mike, its coming.
Kyslick 0 Posted August 20, 2014 I'm having similar concerns. I have added my 1pt PPR scoring rules into draft buddy but I'm more than a little concerned by some of the rankings. Gio at #8 overall ahead of Calvin, dez, etc...gerhart at #11, while Eddie lacy at #19. I do lots of research on my own and have played for 20 years. I have Lacy at #5 overall. Prob won't consider gerhart till rd 4. I've used DB for 3 or 4 years and like to rely on it for reference after the first few rounds, but I'm a little concerned that the payer rankings/projections are way off base. I understand that gerhart has tremendous potential but he's unproven on a terrible offense. Arian foster at #17 overall? He's also ahead of lacy, dez, AJ, Marshall. Julio is at 15 overall, second only to Calvin at WR? I've triple checked my settings and have updated a number of times. Maybe we are just that far off on how we evaluate players, but I'm not feeling it guys. Any insight is appreciated; hopefully I'm doing something wrong. Mike MacGregor 20 Posted August 20, 2014 Chad and I worked out his questions via email, which is why I didn't respond back to his last post. That was more a settings thing, but in your case Kyslick I believe it is more the projections included in Draft Buddy that don't jive with your thoughts on certain players. I have some difference of opinion myself, such as Gerhart and Lacy. Note, Mike Krueger does the projections, in case you weren't aware. One thing you can do is copy the FF Today projections over to the blank Site B section in Draft Buddy for each position tab, and then adjust the projections as you see fit. Change the default allocation key on the options tab to 100% Site B (your projections) and hit Compile Cheatsheets, and the cheatsheets will generate off of that. Another option is to manually adjust the rankings after compiling cheatsheets. You may want to do that after the last update prior to your draft, as compiling again will wipe out your changes. If you are looking for insight as to why certain players are ranked / projected where they are, then I would direct you to the fftoday.com website to look at the change logs from MK, and the player outlooks included on the detailed rankings pages and player pages. Cheers.

Mike MacGregor 20 Posted September 2, 2014 9/2 update is ready! The Saints still don't have a kicker, but I think we've otherwise figured out the kicker roulette. Derek Carr moves up to #1 in Oakland. Gronk is set to play Week 1. Week 1 is here! Woo!
