Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted July 31, 2014 I am in my fifth mfl 10s draft, all 5 are currently in progress. There is only one that hasnt made it to the fourth round so far. I have said it in another thread about how the top qbs are falling and i am fairly stunned. Brees went in the third in one of those drafts, while the other three he has made it to me in the fourth. I think he is the obvious top qb option this year and has a good opportunity to have his best statistical year ever. We could easily be sitting here next year with Brees going where manning is while those that took him in the 3rd/4th gloat about him helping them win their league. I hear "oh qb is deep this year thats why i passed on brees." Well yeah its deep but the top player at any position still has a distinct advantage over everyone else in that position. I think its nuts to pass on a near guaranteed stud in the fourth. Rogers is going even later, though i am a little down on him this year. Do what you want with your qb situation, but dont act like the top qbs barely have an advantage in 4 pt per pass td leagues. Will you seize it?
rholio 339 Posted July 31, 2014 I'm always willing to wait on QB... 4th round for Brees? Yeah, I'd take that and be happy.
Big Dog NJ 11 Posted July 31, 2014 More proof that 1 qb leagues are sub par to 2 qb leagues; the position that impacts the game the most leaves 22 starters on the sidelines????
WhiteWonder 2,172 Posted July 31, 2014 there is nothing wrong with taking Drew Brees in the 4th. good value. However, distinct advantage is relative. you would really have to add his points to the points of whatever player you might draft in round 8 or 9 and compare that to the points of lets say tony romo or jay cutler added with the points of whoever else you could draft in round 4. Brees + Cecil Shorts vs. Cutler + Larry Fitz for an example. as an interesting side note, the Chicago QB was the 3rd highest scoring in fantasy last year. Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted July 31, 2014 Yeah but the difference between the top qb and the 3rd qb was huge. If you miss on brees i am all for waiting. I just think the opportunity is too good to pass up. People were passing on manning last year and look where that got every team that didnt pass. I dont think brees will throw 50 tds, but over 40 is definitely plausible. Plus the yardage will be huge.
Fantasy Fiend 38 Posted July 31, 2014 Absolutely would take Brees if he fell to the fourth. Assuming you have filled your RB1 & RB2 slots along with a solid WR1? Terrific value in that slot IMO.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted July 31, 2014 I love it when i can grab graham in the first and brees in the fourth.
mobb_deep 917 Posted July 31, 2014 More proof that 1 qb leagues are sub par to 2 qb leagues; the position that impacts the game the most leaves 22 starters on the sidelines???? Because every NFL team plays 2 QB's every week.

Honestly Id have trouble passing in Brees in the 3rd this year (I see him as the leading QB scorer this year) though I've been drilling "wait on QB" into my head in every mock I've done so far. Brees in the 4th in a no-brainer. Tremendous value. Harder to "wait on QB" when you see a high-upside guy you like still lounging around after the 4th round. I like Stafford, and if he falls to the 5th I may have to strike. Same thing with RG III in the 6th. I think a lot of the "wait on QB" types really only have 2 or 3 guys in mind (Cutler and Romo seem to be popular QBs people are targeting late), and when the big day comes and the draft day jitters set in, people are going to look at the dude next to him and say "is he planning the same thing? What if I miss out on Jay Cutler? Am I really ok with Andy Dalton and Jake Locker? Sh1t, I better grab someone now to be safe..." Hence, I can see a handful of QBs going 2-3 rounds higher than their ADP. QB runs will be rampant in drafts from here to Tegucigalpa. Mass hysteria.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted July 31, 2014 Stafford has been going to the 7th regularly. Everyone, their mom, and their moms mom are adopting the wait on qb strategy. This is the perfect time to zig when they zag
