Auction League stratagy.

What if it's a league that starts 2QBs 3RBs and 4WR will u still go QB heavy?

I think you still want to try and lock up a top 5 QB when you can. I would probably stay away from Luck and Rodgers so I can save a little more money for some RBs and WRs.

if it is a 12 team league, you NEED 2 solid QB's and if you can grab a third QB it would definitely save you headaches later.

generally if you start 3 RB's That is probably a high priority too.

the deal with QB's:

when you start 2 QB's, in a 10 team league, this means that the top 20 should be starters somewhere. we know there are exceptions. and the next 6-8 are adequate bye week fillers. the bottom 4 starting QB's arent reliable cuz they may not keep their job until the end of the year.

in a 12 team league,, reliable backups are hard to come by and some wont get a backup at all, so if you get a starter that may be prone to injury (ie Bradford, Carson Palmer) you may wish to get a backup early.

so QB's who have a history of remaining healthy seem to have a premium for health in that format.

As for RB's. There are about 10-12 that carry the full load for their teams (maybe I'm being generous, but that's the assumption I'm making) Most of these will be your RB1's on any given team.

after that you are looking at time share RB's in one form or another. some just lose TD's at the goal line to another player. others dont play on 3rd down. others still rotate in and out by series, while others play if the coach considers them to be the 'hot hand'

usually a few RBBC players emerge each year as the dominant starter.

so where you start 3 RB's having a solid RB2 and RB3 becomes very important (comparable to the importance of having decent QB's.

I doubt there is a way to have 3 solid QB's and 4 solid RB's on any one given team. (assuming you want one backup for each)

You'll have to do some math to figure out where your priorities lie. for sure, this is a tough format.

No matter what happens, make sure nobody else knows who you truly want.

that goes without saying. the key is to send out multiple conflicting messages so nobody has a clue.

I always throw a few red herrings out there. find things I see people say on the boards that are somewhat believable and then say them draft day.

At the end of the day, you just dont want them knowing who you like.

there is a friend in a draft I am in, he is a Vikings fan. people always bid up vikings players when he is in on the bidding.

Guys, I don't know how much it is going to help those of you in 10- or 14-team leagues, but I'm doing my annual auction article right now. It should be on the site tomorrow or Saturday at the latest.

well, it's certainly a challenge to fill out the roster with quality players, thats for sure.

That's where the fun is. I've done the league a few years. You gotta really know your sleepers and know all the players. I enjoy it more then a regular league to be honest. Depth is huge. Handcuffing you RBs is huge. Gotta be way smarter about your backups and you gotta play the FA wire with skill

Thanks. I'm thinking maybe Palmer and Bradford as my 2 and 3. They might come cheaper then a Romo ir Stafford. Thoughts? I think grabbing 2 QBs is huge.
