Williams carried value on a week to week basis, based on a decent weekly workload and touchdown chances. As long as Mccoy is healthy, Gillislee doesn't carry much value. As to the original question, if they didn't trust him they probably would have signed someone else. They passed on Williams, and have cut just about anyone else that's been the #3.
