shovelheadt 68 Posted July 10, 2023 Just got back from my daughter's boot camp graduation this past Friday. What an awesome experience. I normally get fired up anyway over anything military but add in my daughter and it was over the top. A very well orchestrated event with a ton of pomp and circumstance. When those drums started and the large door opened to the ceremony hall where you could see the divisions marching in place getting ready to enter....it took me a minute to gather myself.
Ultra Max Power 214 Posted July 10, 2023 I graduated in summer 2001. It was an awesome experience from the recruit's standpoint too. We spent months learning everything and a couple weeks rehearsing. Anchors Aweigh! Where is she getting stationed and what rate did she go?
RLLD 4,143 Posted July 10, 2023 I still vividly remember graduating from Parris Island. My parents could not come because, well, we were dirt poor But is a such a great day, in late September so the weather was nice....still remember the feel, the smells and sounds. Still waiting on orders, but I believe it's 8-10 weeks right there in Great Lakes for Electronics followed by 3 1/2 months in San Diego for Sonar school. As far as first official assignment, think she wants anything Pacific/West Coast.
