I'm a direct descendent of a dude who got wounded at Fredericksburg, and I'm a card-carrying member of the Sons of the Confederacy. Not one bit ashamed of that. 

But you took the bait of assuming I was saying the Civil War was all about slavery. I specifically and very carefully said "Good guys don't own slaves." At the time, the South owned slaves, and I can't imagine what he South would be now had it prevailed, which Shelby Foote said it had no chance of doing. The only opportunities I saw, other than McClellan becoming president and the North just getting tired of the war, were after the First Bull Run and if they'd taken Little Round Top on the first day of Gettysburg. 

Other than that, they had no chance of winning, and those who led the South unfortunately didn't see that were overmatched in every aspect of the game. The North fought with one fist and had the other in reserve.

So because the US eventually became a superpower, then the illegal war is justified? Not in my book. I don't know what the Confederacy would look like today, but that doesn't change my feelings about the illegal Northern Invasion.

Disagree they had no chance of winning. There were several turning points with one of the worst being Stonewall Jackson accidentally killed in friendly fire. Some historians say had he lived many of the disastrous strategic decisions made by his replacements wouldn't have occurred.

The South had neither the manpower nor the war machine to win. It was a war of attrition. It had no more men to throw into battle, while the North had plenty of fresh souls to throw into the war. The North didn't invade the South. The South attacked the North at Fort Sumter. Lee and the South were the ones who drove north in order to win the war. Didn't work out.

Sad you think Boothe killing Lincoln was a good thing. That's just weird, bro. That's like you cheering on Oswald killing Kennedy. Not a good paradigm, sir.

You got anything you want to add to my song? This is the thread's purpose. I'm over here scribbling lyrics and re-listening to the tracks I've got so far. It's a good work a music. How's another civil war go down?
