Should I just lean into it? Trade philosophy question

Recommended Posts

So I have Kelce who is hurt, Taylor out and Kamara out for three games.

Thinking of trading Kelce, Pickens, Higbee, and Achane for Waller Kupp and Jeudy.

Should I just grab better talent and assume I’m going to be crap for the first month which I might be anyway and then try to make my run after that? Or is that a bad trade?

I would stand pat.....think you are giving up too much. Kupp is already hurt....who knows how his season goes. Higbee could end up as good as Waller. Achane could get half the work.

When is Kupp going to be ready to go, when a player of his caliber is seeing a specialist that tells me his injury might be worst then what’s being reported.  Jeudy might play this weekend , but a bad hammy issue can linger.

I wouldn’t trade.  But if I’m the other owner I would.

assuming this is a redraft league.....

Kelce is likely a risky play on week 1.   hes injured, and may or may not play.

Pickens is a young QB with some upside.   likely a mid to low end QB2.

Higbee is a solid backup TE or low end starter at TE.

other than week 1 (and possibly week 2 if Kelce is slow to recover) you wont start Higbee other than the bye week.

you are getting a very good TE in Waller along with a stud in Kupp (who is injured) and Jeudy who likely is a starter for your team.

Archane is a bit of a lotto ticket in redraft.   if this was a keeper/dynasty league I'd be more careful about trading him away.

if all players are fully healthy you'd be dumb not to make this move.    it still wont solve your RB issues.

Kupp likely is missing at least a handful of games.  possibly more.   Jeudy actually looks like he might play week 1.  he returned to practice here today or yesterday but he could still possibly miss week 1.

Waller and Jeudy combined is probably close to fair value for Kelce.    the rest of your guys are basically a throw in and you get Kupp who, once he returns is an impact player.

I think I'd do the deal in redraft.

Re-draft. And it’s a Pickens, the wide receiver, not the quarterback.

Have Barkley, Walker and Kamara and Taylor has running backs.

oops, my bad.

as for RB your initial comment made me think you were hurting at RB.

its a fair deal.   you are getting more proven performers for an unproven guy.  I do like Pickens.  but how high he rises really depends on how far his QB rises.

I do think this tips the scale to make me say dont make the deal.   if you are in the same place, you can ask him if hes willing to sweeten the offer a bit?     all he can do is say no.
