What to do with these “studs”

Recommended Posts

In first in ppr league and will need to make some decisions for bye weeks.   I have no real super flexible spot where I’m carrying a speculative stash- everyone is high percentage owned, good players.

would you be willing to simply cut Christian Watson, Michael Thomas, or Devonta smith at this point in order to get ahead of a bye week replacement need (have goedert and Schultz is out there- his bye week is 10), or drop any of them for more rb depth like Kareem hunt?  Also own d’onta foreman but he might have worked himself into lead back duties even with Roschon coming back.

I likely will be punting week 10 as many are on byes that week and I’m far and away leading. However, I think it’s important to carry a backup tight end or have depth. Also only 4 bench spots.

Yes I would, you have a very short bench.

Thomas.

short benches create talent rich free agent pools.

you almost have to look at it like an 8 team league versus a 12. In an 8 team league, Michael Thomas is probably not someone who needs to be rostered. In a 12 team league, he is. I'd probably drop him for Schultz or Hunt who should probably be a starting player for the next two weeks.

Thanks for the info greatly appreciated. Do you would drop Thomas over Christian Watson or foreman? And you would go with Schultz over Kincaid?  Full ppr

Personal preference I guess. do you need a safe floor player? Then maybe a case can be made for keeping Thomas over Watson but if Love gets his head out of his ass, then Watson has higher upside. Thomas' upside is capped by Olave and Kamara catching passes. He seems to be locked in as a 7-9 target, 4-5 reception player. As for Foreman, i'd generally like to hold onto RB's who are getting a lot of work.

I would take Schultz over Kincaid. Kincaid has had one good game and the hope is that it's a trend moving forward, growing into the role as a rookie. I'd rather have Schultz who has seemingly been a nice security blanket for a rookie QB.

Thomas goes, Schultz is taking his spot.

Kareem Hunt might be a nice pickup.

especially if you are needy at RB

Michael Thomas has actually been reasonably consistent.   he gets 6-8 targets every week and 50 to 60 yards most weeks.

Devonta Smith has always been a bit inconsistent.   look at his previous year's game log.  looks much like this years game log.  only difference is he strung together about 3 good games in a row during the fantasy playoffs.    he will probably have a good game at some point here.   then you can look at selling.

Watson is hard to figure.  hes been hurt.  has had 1 good game and 2 duds.   sample size is too small but if he looks like hes still hurting, you may want to look at moving on from him.

Ended up using my high priority to get hunt, as stockpiling rbs seems to be quite important this year. I will wait till my te is on a bye to grab a waiver guy or just punt that position that week if I’m still very far in first.

dropped Thomas to get him. If news in next few days says Watson is really hurt I might try to drop him and claim Thomas again, although someone might do that first. Either way will need a qb when Kirk goes on bye so someone had to go lol.  The joys of a 4 man Bench lol.

well, at a consistent 50-60 yards a game I suspect he may sit on the wire.  hes a nice bye week filler but you ideally want your starting WR do put up a bit better numbers than that.

I think you will be fine.

With the recent news about Olave’s arrest and possible discipline from the league, do you see him getting a large suspension? If so, I’m tempted to try to pick Thomas back up but will need to cut bait with either hunt or Watson.  someone else using a waiver might get him so might not matter.

thats a good point.  if Olave misses time Thomas will get more targets.

real concern I have is that typically the league usually wont suspend until the player has dealt with the legalities.   so any suspension is likely next year.

at the very least I'd wait until after this week.  Hunt I think will be starting this week and if he blows up you may find yourself with better options than you currently have.

I am just wrestling with what is best for long term and depth, as I’m in first by a mile and short-term plays don’t help me much. I guess hunt could have more ROS value like u said if he blows up. Thomas was a nice bench piece for depth and a nice flex in case, but his upside might not be that of either Watson or hunt.

that was my point.   someone might actually give you a player you actually want for him
