Man walks in on male prostitutes reading to kids

I wouldn't take my kid to any reading hour regardless of who is doing it. I'm capable of reading to my kids.

But when I brought up parents taking their kids to chiropractors- something that legitimately harm the kid- you blew it off?

Again- it ain't your kid so it should be of no concern to you if they do drag queen story hour.

I blew it off because it was a ridiculous comparison. Especially when you consider the fact that you're an Anti-chiro,

Are you an Anti-dentite as well :)

I'm not anti-dentite, but I appreciate that they are in it for the jokes....

Seriously though- I do remember when the Republican party was the party of personal choice and freedom. Not sure where that went wrong.

The fact that you think children's story hour at the library (regardless of whether or not you would have your own child attend) should be open to all types, weirdos included, does tell me something about you.

By calling them weirdos, you're admitting somethings wrong here, but for whatever reason, you can't/won't admit it.

A quote by G.K. Chesterton seems to fit

"Tolerance is the virtue of men who no longer believe in anything”

It suggests you're one of those that has/had strong convictions or beliefs @ one point, but society has conditioned you to repress those feelings when it comes to subjects like this.

Another quote (from of all people) Bill Maher, fits too.

"Political correctness is the elevation of sensitivity over truth"

Thanks for the response. I regret using the term weirdos, but I did, so here we are. I won't bother to change the wording or try to explain what I was really going for. That ship has sailed.

As for your quotes: I completely agree with Maher. Enforced political correctness is censorship. So the government should have no part of it. Private companies, organizations, and institutions however, can and should enforce it to promote diversity, sensitivity, and morale. I made a post upthread or in a different thread about how ridiculous it is that people are so easily offended, and how they treat it as a direct assault, instead of it just being part of a free society. No one has the right to remain unoffended.

I reject the Chesterton quote for being far too broad. Sure, he's right about tolerating certain things, like a backsliding of democratic ideals, violence, crime, the rise of authoritarianism, etc. But he's way off when it comes to human interaction and behavior. I would reframe it as "tolerance is the virtue of men who understand that they don't understand everything."

I can't get into the head space of a transsexual, or a devout Muslim, or a repressive dictator. Their thought processes don't make sense to me. I don't bother to get twisted up over it. I reserve judgment until one's actions have a direct negative impact on innocent lives. A guy in drag reading to kids doesn't matter to me unless they are actively doing or saying inappropriate things. Overt sexual content, dildos and grinding are not part of reading a story to kids. I object to that absolutely.

Keep in mind that the tiny amount of sexual predators using these opportunities for exposure to kids are not representative of the entire community. It's the same concept as someone calling all Trump voters stupid racists. It is flat-out untrue, and a harmful mindset.

Thanks for the reply. We'll just have to agree to disagree. My opinion will never change. There's no reason to specify that an alternative lifestyle person will read stories to children in the library. .
