Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers’ death was called in as a possible cardiac arrest, according to authorities.

A spokesperson for the St. Johns County Fire Rescue in Florida confirms to PEOPLE that they responded to a call for a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest” at Rivers’ home on Oct. 18, the day he died. He was 48.

TMZ reported that a rep for the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department — who did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment — said deputies responded to an “attended death” at Rivers’ address. Attended deaths are when a patient dies at home under the care of an attending physician or licensed hospice.
