Point I'm trying to make is old audio cassettes can be worth something if the right ones and same as VHS which I sold more than a few for that price or higher. People just want to throw both in the trash with out looking.

I hear ya. A long, long time ago, I sold a VHS tape of bad boys (the one with Sean Penn) for $100 on eBay. My next project is to go through all my old LPs. I did the Columbia house thing back in the day,, and I have quite a few of them that were never even taken out of the original plastic. On the other hand, I'm a procrastinator. First started thinking about doing that a good 20 years ago!

I still have something like 500 cassettes, the most recent of which was probably purchased ~ 1995. My kids will need to sell them after I die. I'm not parting with any of them, and even still listen to a couple of them now and again. Something about the hissing of the tape still sounds good...

Cool and I still buy the 80's ones I had when I was young because I drive a old car with a cassette player in it.

ebay?

I know it limits your customer base but why not try FB Marketplace? Do cash only local pickup. No 1099, no ebay taking their cut. Or at least list on both.

Yeah, my biggest impediment to listening to them is finding a functioning tape deck/boom box. Well, that and the ridiculous convenience of streaming.

I just don't have the patience to ship items in general. I used to list antiques on CL and FB for my uncle before he passed so I started listing my own stuff as well. A few times I have agreed to ship via FB if the buyer e-mails me a pre paid shipping label and if they pay me through venmo friends and family... but that is rare. Mostly I stick to local pickup and cash. They either come directly to me or a store parking lot convenient to me.

I don't like doing the meet ups much and while I prefer to ship but for big items the meets are a must.  Last meet up I did was for a 1979 Mattel electric baseball game, bought for $20 sold for $100.Ebay pays me right after I ship which is cool and just took a payout for that Tupac which gives me money to bet tonight.

Nice!

I used to go to the local Honda motorcycle dealership back in the 1980s. Back then they always had nice pamphlets to give away.

I put one of those for a Honda V 65 magna for sale on eBay sometime in the early 2000s. I was astounded that some guy from Europe agreed to pay me $100 + huge shipping.

The rest I have left are all MX bikes (Elsinore's) another one I'd like to test the waters with is pamphlets for high-end stereos which I also collected in the 80s.

Cool and should be worth something and I know I love B&B. I have a thermal printer and keep my Amazon Boxes from what I bought and have Ebay tape now and just tape over the Amazon parts lol So pretty easy for me to get crap I sale out quick and I learnt. That said I'm lucky to sale two items a week and again just a side hustle for now but I'm getting smart if I want to take it more serious.

They either come to me or the meetup location is 3 minutes away. My uncle passed last October and starting Feb 2025 I listed some of his stuff I inherited. Mostly items he had me listing before he passed. I cleared 3k with the highest single item being an antique dresser for $450, and used the funds to pay for all the dinners on a big family vacation in May in his honor.
I’ve also snagged a few free items when they pop up on my feed and are local and flipped them for fun. Coffee tables, trunks, lamps… got an old writers desk that I fixed up but decided to keep it and made it a mini bar.
