2026 Death Pool Official Rules

The objective of this pool is to compile a list (roster) of individuals whom you predict will pass away during the 2026 calendar year. 

Participation and Roster Creation

·         Roster Size: 

• Each valid entry must consist of a roster of exactly 10 different individuals.

·         Eligibility Criteria:

• All selected individuals must be at least 18 years old at the time of your entry submission.
• People currently on death row are strictly prohibited selections.
• Registered users of FFToday and/or theDanZone are ineligible to be selected for any roster.
• Animals are not permitted as selections.

·         Fame Requirement: 

• All selections must be generally recognizable public figures (e.g., celebrities, politicians, prominent athletes). They must be well-known enough that their name can be quickly verified via a standard Google or Wikipedia search. You cannot select private citizens such as neighbors or teachers.

·         Naming Conventions: 

• Full and correct legal names are required. Avoid descriptive placeholders such as "Steve Irwin's baby" or "Michael Jackson's accuser."

·         Entry Limit and Submission: 

• Participants may submit multiple entries. However, the entry with the latest timestamp will be considered the valid entry; all prior submissions are immediately voided. 

Pool Timeline

·         Start Date: 

• January 1, 2026, at 12:00 AM ET.

·         End Date: 

• December 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET. 

Scoring and Standings

·         Scoring Method: 

• A person's score is calculated by subtracting their age at the time of death from 100 points (Score = 100 - Age). Higher scores are better.

·         Roster Management: 

• Rosters are final once submitted (and not subsequently voided by a newer submission). There will be no mid-year trading of selections or free-agent pickups.

·         Age Verification: 

• If multiple ages are reported for a deceased person across different news sources, the age listed most frequently across reliable sources will be used as the official age for scoring purposes.

·         Standings: 

• The official standings will be ranked first by the total number of points scored, and second (as a tiebreaker) by the total number of correctly predicted deaths.

Administration and Dispute Resolution

·         Spelling: 

• Please make every effort to spell names correctly to ensure accurate tracking and scoring (this is especially important for names with complex spellings).

·         Commissioner's Ruling: 

• In the event of any rule dispute or unforeseen circumstance not covered by these rules, the commissioner retains all authority and will have the final say.
