Lord of the Rings Trilogy free on youtube (on repeat)

Recommended Posts

I watched the first movie for the first time in 20 years maybe 2 weeks ago. I forgot how bad it was. It's an early 2000's movie that looks like a bad sci fi movie from the 80s or early 90s. Between the atrocious special effects and the horrible camera work (scenes like cutting back and forth between the heroes and the orcs running after them which felt like some high schoolers were filming it for class) ... was it low budget at the time? I was never really into it, a girlfriend made me watch it back then.  I like the Ring of Power show and obviously was not expecting 2025 level stuff but I also don't remember movies from the early 2000's being that bad in the effects department.

This youtube stream sucks. It seems to have spliced parts of each movie all over and together and makes no sense. Sorry I posted it. Might want to skip this.

WhiteWonder, I think it was a very high budget film to make.

From Google AI:

Yes, The Lord of the Rings trilogy had a significant budget, totaling around $281 million for all three films (roughly $93-94 million each), making it a massive undertaking for its time, especially considering it was filmed as one giant production in New Zealand, though it's often called the "biggest low-budget film ever" due to its epic scale and incredible return on investment

i'm sure it made an amazing ROI, and I suppose if I had to guess I would have assumed it was a higher budget film for the time... but I stand by my claim that the sfx are garbage and some of the camera work seems piss poor for such a high profile film.  I have not rewatched and am not even sure if I ever saw the next two. Perhaps i'll give them a shot.

I'll never understand the love for that series.  It's 9 hours of focking walking.  :dunno:

Should they have each used their own private jet like they were going to the oscars?

In theory, yes.  But then the "Trilogy" would've been like a 10 minute skit.  Not a lot of money in those.
