Keyser Sose 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Drafting out of the 5-Hole this year. Assuming top 4 is LJ, LT2, SA, and Portis, where does that leave my ass? My options are: Tiki Edge EL Monty Jordan S Jax Or considering Peyton Manning even. Which is the best option? Am I missing a different option? Thanks to anyone who can help me make up my mind... and keep it classy San Diego.
pipeman 16 Posted August 1, 2006 The dreaded #5 pick- the only saving grace for you is finding someone who's got a hard-on for Manning. I've actually heard of people trading out of the spot AND getting an upgrade pick. Good Luck- pipeman
famousb 11 Posted August 1, 2006 i love trading down a few spots if possible, along w/ switching 2nd round picks and getting an extra pick in the 6th/7th it's not so bad... but depends alot on format... if PPR, you almost have to go Tiki for one more year. non-PPR you have a ton of choices, w/ Tiki still leading the popularity vote... i've seen some lump Ronnie and Caddy in there too, but i'd avoid it... i really think i'd go Edge if i couldn't get out of the spot, but that's just me cause i think he's got something to prove and i've always had serious man-love for his abilities... ohiostfb 0 Posted August 1, 2006 1) Trade Down 2) If #1 doesn't work, take Tiki ---------------------- 3) Alternate ending: Sit on the pick (think Minnesota Vikings) and turn it over to the next guy, then just jump back in the draft when you feel there's good value

throttlers 0 Posted August 1, 2006 If it's a keepere league I'd look for SJax, R.Brown, or Caddy. If it's a redraft I'd consider Tiki.
brotherbock 349 Posted August 2, 2006 Ron Dayne, man...gotta go with Dayne. Sorry...okay, seriously, in a redraft league, the order you've got them in your list looks fine by me. As far as expectations, there's very little to separate them. So, what makes the difference to me is past performance, and reliability. Jackson may put up 2000 yards and 30 scores this year, but he hasn't shown me anything yet. The Raiders suck, and there's no reason to expect that Aaron Brooks will make anyone take 8 men out of the box. But Jordan catches passes well, so that's better. Edge catches passes, Edge runs hard, the Cards have upgraded their line, and Edge has a great history. But it's the Cards. Tiki has a good offense that fits him, good o-line, good QB, other weapons to scare the D...he's the best of that bunch. Don't reach for Ronnie or Caddy...neither has shown that they can do what Tiki can do, and Caddy is giving up goal line carries. Don't reach for Manning...not at the #5 pick. Not even in a QB heavy league (6/passing TD). Gotta get a runner first.

FBH ** 0 Posted August 2, 2006 If redraft, I would say take Tiki, especially if PPR, if you can't move the pick. He is proven, all the other RBs have questions to be answered. The only problem with Tiki is the goal line touches. Something to consider.
larrymcirish 0 Posted August 2, 2006 1. Tiki 2. Rudi
cherry garcia 0 Posted August 2, 2006 P.Manning if it's a 6td passing league, especially if distance of the td is taken into account} Tiki if not.
ffdomino 0 Posted August 3, 2006 5th and 6th pick are bruttal this year. I would take Tiki for one reason, and one reason alone...you will shoot yourself if you pass on him and he does what he did last year. That being said...I would not fault people for taking Rudi either. Jax and Edge have too many questionmarks to go 5th. Look at it this way....how often does your first pick really decide your league? Start focusing on your 2nd pick and beyond.
