patweisers44 697 Posted November 23, 2015 What happens if a team decides to go for two point conversion and gets called for a holding penalty or something. Can they then choose to kick the PAT, and if so, where would the spot be? The PAT spot plus ten more yards? Also, can a team line up to go for a two point conversion and then dropkick it for one point?
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted November 23, 2015 I believe that the answers are: 1. Yes, you can change your mind after a penalty. However, the spot is the penalty distance from the new choice spot. So, if you go for 2, get called for holding, then your kick LOS is the 25 instead of the 15. http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/174752/inside-slant-everything-you-want-to-know-and-then-some-about-the-nfls-new-pat-rule 2. I don't think so. I think that if you kick, you need to kick from the LOS being at the 15.

TimmySmith 2,782 Posted November 23, 2015 I think celebration penalties should be assessed on the PAT.
Thornton Melon 544 Posted November 23, 2015 Didn't Flutie do this once? 10 years ago. I would think a drop kick is considered the same as a place-held kick, so the answer would be NO, but I'm guessing.
patweisers44 697 Posted November 23, 2015 Didn't Flutie do this once? Yes, it was during his last game. AS I recall it was something he messed around with all the time and for an extra point in a meaningless finale he did it.

That was Belichick, the historian, wanting to do something different.
