*** '07 Player Projections By NFL Team ***

Recommended Posts

To prepare FFTodayers for the upcoming ’07 season, starting 5/14 will post threads listing offensive players by NFL team and invite posters to attach projections to each offensive player.

Posting of just commentary on one or mutliple players, instead of projections is welcomed and encouraged as well.

Will post 3 team threads per week (2 during 4th of July week) alphabetically by team city, so will have all 32 NFL teams posted before August 1st.

Through beginning of FF season will hopefully have this thread pinned as an ‘Archives’ thread, so will have opportunity to post replies for any previous team at any time.

Notes:

QB JKitna: Will be 11th season, 2nd with Lions

RB TBell: Will be 4th season, 1st with Lions

WR RWilliams: 4th season, led team in rec yds, rec TDs in ‘06

WR MFurrey: 2nd year, led team in recs in ‘06

Key Questions For '07 Season:

Will JKitna progress or regress in 2nd year in MMartz’s offense?

Who will ‘carry load’ at RB? Or RBBC?

Can RWilliams, MFurrey step up their game?

Can CJohnson contribute significantly as a rookie?

I am interested to see what people think Duckett's role will be (obviously because I have him on my roster). I would like to see high TD totals so I can use him as a bye week fill-in.

i think kitna progresses in year 2 under martz. that doesn't necessarily mean that he'll put up bigger numbers, though. *some* of his ints last year were the wrs faults (the qb throws to a spot and the wr better be there in martz's system). a full of martz in the books for kitna and roy (furrey already knew the system cold last year) should help tremendously. i can see 25-ish tds for kitna and a decrease in ints (16ish). should flirt with upper 3000s in passing yards *if* he remains the starter the entire season. keep in mind that for nearly the last month and a half of last season he was chucking the ball like 50 times a game because the entire lions rb unit was on IR. there's more depth at rb this year and i think the rb game plays a bigger and more consistent role throughout the season, which could on one hand decrease kitna's numbers (less pass attempts) but also help (teams unable to cheat the pass).

not sure how roy and (especially) furrey "step up" more? :dunno:

calvin should be a candidate to put up roy's rookie numbers (800/8) but there is competition for touches that could alter that. he's a true stud and he's been working his azz off in minicamps BUT he is a ROOKIE wr and a a rookie wr in a complicated offense.

the rbs? i tell ya...i truly don't know what to expect. how close to ready will kj be? if so, what does that mean for duckett and tatum? if kj's not healthy, what does that mean for duckett and tatum? you tell me. i haven't gotten a good read on any of it yet.

i do know rod loves duckett more than people may realize--his size, lunch pail mentality, toughness, etc. i've seen rod gush about him a couple of times already this spring. at the very least i see him being a big td vulture in the rb game.

It can't help Duckett's value too much to have 2 monster redzone targets like Roy Will and Calvin Johnson in the mix.

I can't really see him as a serviceable bye-week fill in.

inexplicably, roy wasn't a redzone target last year (for the most part). i can tell you if the lions get the ball inside the 5 rod *wants* to pound it in...the lions didn't have the healthy bodies last year to do that. there's a reason rod went out and got duckett, signed mulitalo, got foster, and drafted ramirez. not surprisingly all of those guys are big road-grader types.

i'm of course not suggesting the lions won't be throwing the ball down there...just suggesting that they'll run it down there more than people might think looking at martz and those wrs.

It's a Martz offense I want to see 100recs/1500yds/15tds from each of them.

I just get in mode when I'm doing these and with younger WRs I say 'Can so-and-so step up more'.

I know you're bitter about the Pistons Swamp...don't take it out on my pal. :dunno:

well, i hope you're right about those numbers. that would put them in the top-3 of all-time performances. aim high, i guess.

I think Kitna will be a great value pick. Most will be drooling over the WR and leave kitna for the mid to late rounds.
