Calling all FF gurus! B.Marshall on trade block from Brady/Colston owner - advice plz

Recommended Posts

So as luck would have it (not for him) the Marshall owner in my league lost Brady AND Colston and has put up Marshall for trade since we have a 12 team standard scoring league with fairly deep roster and he cant get much off the WW. He's the lowest scorer by plenty through 2 weeks so hes looking to give up a player or 2 for some starter-worthy depth.

So now we are talking trades because I obviously took immediate interest in Marshall. He proposed the following since I told him I wanted Marshall and one of his DEFs (to possibly draw a little attention away from Marshall and help with packaging deals). He has TEN & MIN and I have JAX and would like to get one of his not only for an improvement but because JAX plays IND this week.

12 team, standard scoring, start QB, 2RB, 2WR, W/R, TE, K, DEF

His team:

QB: T.Edwards, Tarv.Jackson, M.Ryan (lost his first and third round picks in Brady and Colston)

RB: Maroney, Ronnie Brown & Ricky Williams, Chris Johnson, Pittman

WR: Marshall, Ma.Clayton, J.Jones, Meachem, Colston

TE: Fasano

K: Gost

D: MIN, TEN

*Side note: he has a trade that should go through giving Chris Johnson and T.Edwards for P.Rivers and J.Lewis (I wanted to send him a QB and try and get CJ from him but that wont be happening now)

My team:

QB: Warner, Garrard, Cassel

RB: Portis, Graham, MJD, C.Perry, M.Bush

WR: AJ, Jennings, Evans, A.Gonzo, Walter, JWalker

TE: T.Gonzo

K: Vinatieri

D: JAX

After rejecting a few offers from me he countered with the following:

His Brandon Marshall, TEN D, and Maroney

For my Earnest Graham, Lee Evans and Anthony Gonzalez.

I really don't want Maroney at all so I'm going to try and counter him. I'd rather not give away my workhorse in Graham, but I'd LOVE to start Marshall with AJ and Jennings.

What do you all think I should try to counter with if I only want TEN and Marshall? I'm quite attached to Graham being a UF grad and a TB Buc fan, but I wont let that stop me from getting a top tier WR. Thanks for all advice/input!

I would probably do it; even though i don't like maroney either. You get a stud WR for a decent RB in Graham and players on your bench.

You would then start Marshall and Andre Johnson at WR and have Greg Jennings as your Flex

Your RB's take a hit but if MJD starts playing like expected, you should be fine.

first off i dont like the trade he already did... giving up a young explosive back for jamal lewis... idk and edwards was a fine QB i think

as far as your trade id do the one he offered but by all means counter something your more comfortable with

This may be unpopular advice, but I would offer MJD and Evans for Marshall and TEN/MIN. MJD has a reputation, and thats about all - he is running behind a totally bum O-line, Garrard has looked awful, and Taylor isnt even spelling him effectively. He is benched on my team that starts T.Jones, Lynch, and R. Bush. Even against IND.

Evans also is fairly inconsistent but his name means something. I personally would rather keep Gonzalez as a bye week fill in than keep Evans. Gonzalez looked sharp against the Vikings (9-140+), although he didnt catch a TD. He could very well go for 1000 and 6TDs this year, as Harrison looks like he has lost a step, perhaps even two.

Marshall is a beast, as you know, and TEN is a real upgrade over Jacksonville. That being said, if you prefer MIN, offer for them instead - I think he is somewhat likely to do the deal either way. This leaves you a bit thin at RB - Perry becomes your bye week fill in, which could be better - however, your WRs will be absolutely dominant.

I think thats the only trade you are likely to get him to accept, given his current personnel.

Thanks for your help with my question. If you have further questions about what I said, feel free to email me at marc.mondry@gmail.com. Good luck

Thanks for the replies everyone. Marc, funny you said offer MJD/Evans because that is what I tried but he prefers Graham. I'm thinking Graham stock is high and like you said MJD (and JAX in general) are struggling a bit. So I sent over the trade he offered which was Graham/Evans/AGonzo for Marshall/TEN/Maroney. I'll sit Maroney and hope he gets a bit better, but as

said I get a real nice upgrade at WR for 2 guys that are on my bench because I have depth, plus a good upgrade at DEF.

Hope it works out - he seems desperate for a serious change in personnel due to injuries. Anyone think people will veto this? I think if you look at both teams it makes more sense since he will start all 3 guys I send him and should put up more total pts than just losing Marshall (since Maroney and TEN are on his bench).

Oh and does anyone think MArshall will face more suspension due to all his charges?? It has to put some risk on acquiring him, but I think its worth it.

nope according to espn the nfl was already aware of this incident before the charges were brought up so he should not face any additional penalty.

but ofcourse anything else he does will screw him

If you can get Marshall+ for inconsistentEvans and barelyRB1 Graham, you should be arrested for grand larceny.

If he did ask for Graham/Jennings, I'd still do it (as long as I am secure that this battery charge will not result in susp, which I am). If he wanted MJD and Evans I'd do it. Even MJD and Jennings would make me think hard about it.

At worst, you'd be

Mashall, AJ, Evans

Portis, Graham.

Stacked.

For the record I own Portis, Graham and Marshall, and I'm very happy with all of them.

I am hoping to swing a trade from RB depth for a WR like AJ, but that's a story for another day.

Thanks for mine
