Suggestions for next year

Recommended Posts

I fyou have any suggestions for rules changes, or something simply to make the league more fun, put it here.

I personally want to change the FA set up, eliminating at least one of the WW periods. With this large of a league, the last few were pretty pointless.

Anything you want to propose will be considered.

 How about we serpentine the draft? :bandana:

What's with this straight draft order crap from round to round? Who's bloody idea was that?

This is a democracy, so if everyone agrees then that is what we'd do. However, this is a dynasty league, and as such, the idea is to be more like a real NFL franchise. You suceed in one season your draft picks are worse in the next, you suck in a season you get good picks to try and regroup. That's the way every dynasty league I've seen does it.

:o

Plus I figured that even if I traded away my high 1st rounder (ended up being #1  ) I would at least have a high second rounder. :headbanger:

If we want to talk about it for NEXT offseason, I'm up for that. But as OB says, this is the way that I've always seen it done. ;)

Great point, people have been trading future picks since the initial draft with this structure in mind. Not to mention people who made moves last year with draft position in mind. I would be very reluctant to change any of that after the fact because the winners don't ike their draft spots.

Pick time limits

isn't it 24 hours. :headbanger:

Rookie Drafts: 4 rounds starting in 2005, draft order is reverse of the order the teams finished the prior season. League Champion and runner up are automatically slotted in the 16th and 15th slots respectively. The rest will be based on (in reverse order) (1) Record (2) Total points (3) Head to head games (4) Head to head total points This draft will include all veterans and free agents as well.

I'll suggest dumping the supplemental fraft rules. If someone ends up with more than twenty-four via unbalanced trades, he can keep the extras. Someone else will have fewer than twenty-four and won't be able to make up for the lost roster count. Make the roster count only an issue on the cut down date and not on any other date.

reposted from the sanctuary:

At the end of the fraft:
  • grampshoo will have 23 (needs a supplemental pick)

  • whoisjgalt will have 23 (needs one)

  • scooby will have 21 (needs three)

  • orgazmo will have 27 (needs to cut three)

  • wilzone will have 25 (cut one)

  • cornerback will have 25 (cut one)

round five would be as follows:

  • 5.01 grampshoo

  • 5.02 scooby

  • 5.03 whoisjgalt

  • 5.04 scooby

  • 5.05 scooby

We can certainly vote on this for next year, but it will stay as written for this season.

 Understood. We can't just change things willy-nilly.

And if we don't change this rule, we ought to make it more clear how we execute the rule. When do the cuts of the excess players happen? By what date?

Well, I meant it to be the day the draft ends. Meaning that once the draft ends anyone with more than 24 players must cut down to 24 that day (or the next depending on the timeframe. I wll make a more definite addition to that rule, but my intention was to have everyone at 24 as the draft ends.

As a suggestion, you might want to make this known in it's own separate thread now. From the thread at the sanctuary, two of the three are aware of this. But Cornerback probably ought to see it when he stops by to make his last pick or needs to be emailed about it (maybe both).

Pick time limits

Yeah, because we're totally running out of time.

No, but it is completely inconsiderate to not check in for over 2 days and leave your whole league hanging. ICE is notorious for this.

In five days from now i'm gonna marry (Young MC spice) and I'm able to check in periodically with all I have going on, what's his excuse?

Pick time limits

Yeah, because we're totally running out of time.

I'd be alright with no time limits if everyone did a flawless job of letting everyone else know when they'd be unavailable.

At a minimum, the persistent fraft draggers should be required to leave phone numbers that the commishing committee can use to let them know they are OTC. Then a time limit could apply after notification occurrs.
