Yeah but for the past couple of years he actually showed up to mini camp, and wasn't making demands about a new contract. I don't know, I like Duce, but Jeff Lurie tends to be cheap (except for with Donovan) and does not put up with this kind of behavior. We will see.
Captain Lou 0 Posted June 6, 2003 Originally posted by christgs80:Good trade for you Steve. Yes it was a good deal for Singman. I had to get really motivated with some players to get some backs who may pan out. Losing Lelie was a big move for me, but looking at my receivers, you will find a good mix of vets, and youth to work with for a couple of seasons. Grossman may also be a nice pick up for Steve as well. I did not have the roster space for him, and felt that I would have to be the one to pay up front for a return on the back end. I think that we are both comfortable on the trade.

I personally think Reid has had just about enough of the annual Staley tantrums. I see him as a good fantasy number two/three. But I also see him on the last year of his deal. Even if they give him a raise, that is not a guarantee that he will return in 2004. Could easily be dealt before the draft. Not so sure he has a future in Philly at this time. I have always liked Duce, but not being an elite back, really hurts his bargaining position IMO. [ 06-07-2003: Message edited by: Captain Lou ]
The Moz 69 Posted June 7, 2003 Deal was pretty even -- i mean it's hard to tell who made out when no players of real signifigance were involved. Even Lelie starts he still has Plummer throwing to him. Even if Buckhalter starts he still has 3 other backs stealing carries. Alstott will still be a short yardage only back even without Pittman as Stecker or Stephens will play Pittmans role. And Onterio Smith - though very talented is still behind a talented back in Bennett coming off a Pro bowl invite. The QB's are a wash. I would rate the trade as even.
