steveski 0 Posted October 24, 2005 You have a great week and your team scores a ton of points, however you played against the only team in your league with more points. This is the 2nd time this year. Fantasy Football = luck.
Nichee 0 Posted October 24, 2005 In Week 1, I was the high scorer and beat the 2nd high scorer. This week, I was the third lowest scorer and won anyway. It's not luck. I'm just that damn good.

You kinda make your own luck, it averages out after a while.

Ilov80s 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Its a lot like poker. Theres some real skill, but in the end it's still a crapshoot. Having LT and Shaun Alexander are like pocket aces, but this weekend pocket aces didn't hold up.
Captian America 0 Posted October 24, 2005 You have a great week and your team scores a ton of points, however you played against the only team in your league with more points. This is the 2nd time this year. Fantasy Football = luck. I had that happen to me 2 years ago I lost 3 games in a row like that. The Schedule can be luck factor both good and bad you could have the second worst score of the week and luck out because you played the worst team. So I would say you do need luck also in fantasy football.
Electric Mayhem 35 Posted October 24, 2005 Last year the team with the lowest point total for the year won the SB because of lucky matchups. So, this year we went to to "antsports" scoring system: win = 2 points tie = 1 point Loss = 0 points plus Top 4 scorers = 2 points next 4 = 1 point worst 4 = 0 points This way, if you lose but has one of the top 4 scores for the week, you still get 2 points. So far, so good.
Grace Under Pressure 73 Posted October 24, 2005 Is the total points league format such a dinosaur? Creating an artificial schedule, divisions, and the added emphasis of how your team performs during the "playoffs" seems to create more opportunities for luck to dictate the outcome. I believe the argument for H2H format leagues is that they are more fun. That's cool, most FF leagues are about having fun and enjoying the hobby. But understand, that when signing up for a H2H league - you will sometimes lose a game even though you are the second highest scoring team that week. Comes with the territory, the bored is littered with those stories each week. Most leagues seem to have components of both formats - probably a good way to go. steveski 0 Posted October 25, 2005 Not sure what skill if any , there is in Fantasy Football. Draft picks: mostly luck, maybe you did some research. But when they have a season ending injury, that's bad luck Picking up a waiver wire player and he does well for the rest of the season: good luck. Scoring a ton of points and loosing to the only team that could beat you in the league. bad luck. The more research you do the less luck is a factor but still it determines probably 90% of your wins and losses.

westcoast 0 Posted October 25, 2005 Its a lot like poker. Theres some real skill, but in the end it's still a crapshoot. I have 4 teams this year. Last week, won every head to head. This week, lost every head to head. Only difference was 3 bye players I had to replace, and none of the bye players were rated in the top 10.

This is the 2nd time this year. Fantasy Football = luck. This happened to me the first 5 weeks.... I still have the most points scored in the league but I am 1 - 5 (will be 2 - 5 after this week). Kellys Heroes 0 Posted October 25, 2005 I went on a 5 game tear. Then Last week I scored my average of about 160 (which is high in this league) and sure enough the other guy was the highest team of the week with about 170. This week I had 150 and they had 158 (Highest of the week again. I don't mind as much, as long as I average my 150 or higher I'm happy. I figure if I get 150 or higher a week I'll win a lot more than I lose.
