mmmmm...beer 807 Posted April 27, 2006 Online stores prices? Like Plasma Dr. or PriceMad or whatever? They wouldn't touch anything off Ebay... I tried to show them.. that even though the add was off Ebay the online store was a legit store... not an ebay store. They didn't dig it. Just wondering as I can save myself a PILE of cash if I get them to match the price and can just pick it up at the store instead of delivery for 200 bucks. davebg 0 Posted April 27, 2006 No...they will show you the fine print of their price guarantee and it will state that they only match certain types of competitors. ETA: ...simply bring in proof of a local retail competitor's price on the same available brand and model (plus your original Best Buy receipt, if applicable)...What is considered a local retail competitor? A retail store located in the same market area as your local Best Buy store. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?ty...460&id=cat12098 Just a hunch, but I'd say "the internet" is not considered "local retail." EndGame 0 Posted April 27, 2006 I don't know about Best Buy, but I can tell you definitively that unless they've changed their policy in the past year (since left working at HQ) Circuit City does NOT match prices of online retailers.

Hrm.. probably because I can get a HITACHI 42HDF52 42-IN HDTV PLASMA TV.. DELIVERED to my home for about 400 less than they have it in the store.
WhtSuxH8r 0 Posted April 27, 2006 Here is a coupon for an additional 20% off of Best Buy open box buys for TVs... hope this can help http://www.bestbuy.com/site//olspage.jsp?i...1&type=category

When Circuit City first started their site, they DID match online retailers. I don't know if they still do that, but they did when I worked there. That was 1996 or 1997 and there wasn't as many online competitors back then.

pimptastic69 0 Posted April 27, 2006 CCS did change the policy Price Guarantee If you've seen a lower advertised price from another local store with the same item in stock, we want to know about it. Bring it to our attention, and we'll gladly beat their price by 10% of the difference. If you see a lower advertised price (including our own sale prices) within 30 days of your purchase, we'll refund 110% of the difference. Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers and special financing. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide price matches online, so please visit the closest Circuit City store to take advantage of our Price Guarantee. brinett9 0 Posted April 27, 2006 It's always gonna be: "Yeah, but that ad's for a Hitachi SuperMax 5300-SP-LX-C520G." "We only have the Hitachi SuperMax 5300-SP-LX-C520H."
mmmmm...beer 807 Posted April 27, 2006 Unauthorized retailers. Does that really matter? The warranty is from the TV Maker right? Like.. if I buy a Sony.. I gotta go to Sony with my complaint.. Circuit City will tell me to suck it? CCS did change the policy Uhh.. isn't that just saying that they won't match their ONLINE price from their website with anyone elses website? It's not saying that they won't match it in store. Just they won't match on their website.

mmmmm...beer 807 Posted April 27, 2006 Yeah... just called the local stores. Circuit City = BIG FAT NO Best Buy = When I took 5 minutes to explain it to the kid he hands it off to his boss Boss says they have to be an authorized dealer. I also called Dr. Plasma... there are only 4 brands that will honor their warranties of you buy from an unauthorized dealer.. he rattled them off pretty fast but I know Zenith was one of them. So.. answered my own question. I'm not spending 2ger and voiding the focking warranty on it... I guess I'll wait for a sale or something and have to trudge down to the bestbuy/circuit city and get one.

Here's the company line, take it for what it's worth... Basically, you're comparing different types of retailers. Circuit City brick-and-mortar stores don't match prices of online retailers because of that. CC does have a website, but they don't offer price matching through the website. The non-company line? You're correct. They can't compete. Curiously, what's the shipping cost for a TV like that? Have you taken that into consideration?

If you can show that the online store has a physical storefront near a Circuit City or Best Buy (I used to kill Circuit with these guys ) they usually match.
