football_scooter 0 Posted May 4, 2006 McNair's value once in Baltimore = 0. Uh, let's explore that for a moment: Better O-Line than the Titans? Check. Better RB than the Titans had in Chris Brown? Check. Derrick Mason? Check. Todd Heap? Check. McNair is a perfect freefall candidate if he ends up in Baltomore. 8th round steal who will put up 3000/23/12 with another 3 RuTD
Rye & Leaf 0 Posted May 5, 2006 While I agree with the positive assessments on the RB situation, I disagree with the deep threat comments. We have serviceable WR's right now. What we need is for Favre to not throw deep and instead throw short and intermediate-range passes. His deep passes just don't make it down the field any more, and have lost their accuracy. He needs to play smarter, and let the big WR's make things happen after the catch. [/edit] Do you remember that Monday night game Farve played after his father passed away? Anyway, he threw like four tds, but at least two of those were just jump balls in the end zone. Farve takes risks and always will. There is no way that Farve scales back his game and becomes a field manager like Trent Dilfer. They need a viable deep threat or Farve's interceptions will be out of control like last year. adam smitty 0 Posted May 5, 2006 RB is one of the deeper positions GB has. They did a good job by not reaching to get one IMO.
Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted May 5, 2006 RB is one of the deeper positions GB has. They did a good job by not reaching to get one IMO. There was no need to add one with 3 servicable backs on the roster and all expected to be healthy.
XToday 0 Posted May 5, 2006 Yeah, WTF? I mean, come on. Samkon Gado once killed a man with his bare hands just to watch him die.
ROBOKOP 0 Posted May 5, 2006 I am a huge Packer fan and am also critical of the lack of a running back in this draft. Conversely I believe they had an excellent draft, especially on day one. Day two, I believe we could have picked up someone worthy of atl the very least a practice squad spot. Our running backs are not exactly reliable at the moment. This is indicitive in this weekends mini camp whereas Green and Davenport will not be there. This means even going in to our first mini camp we have no idea what we have. Gado showed potential, but I feel hesitant to base my 2006 season on his performance. We all basically have to cross our fingers and hope at least one of the two Green or Davenport recovers completely, in which case we can hopefully make the excuse for Green that the o-line was bad causing his lack of production prior to the injury. Its pretty much been expected that Green would not be there....this is no suprise. About the same for Davenport too. And the good thing is that Gado who did not even come through camp last year gets time to work with the big boys a while.

Perhaps you missed the beginning of this discussion. Everyone knows Favre takes risks. However, the jump balls, like those against Oakland, didn't appear until Mike Sherman and Tom Rossley were running the offense. That was not a staple of the Holmgren offense, nor is it a part of a true west coast offense. All that's being said here is, if McCarthy is true to his word, the offense will not rely on jump balls. The passing game will change to shorter passes with more emphasis on yards after the catch. Favre will still take risks, but they shouldn't look like that.
